A Farmingdale teen's attack on another boy happened late at night in a park three weeks ago, but there's plenty of evidence - a video of the assault that was posted online, Nassau police said.
Based in part on the digital record of the event, detectives Thursday night arrested Ryan Codey, 17, at home and charged him with second-degree assault. If convicted, he faces up to 7 years in prison.
The victim, 16, who was described by the police as a "former friend" of Codey, had his nose fractured in the attack and still needs treatment and surgery, police said.
Codey assaulted the victim at July 18 at 9:30 p.m. at the Massapequa Preserve in North Massapequa with other people present, police said. One of the onlookers made a video recording of the crime which was later posted on a video-sharing Web site, police said.
Codey was ordered held on $10,000 bail Friday during his arraignment at First District Court, Hempstead.
He is due back in court Tuesday.
So he lost a friend, his dignity, and possibly his freedom over a game controller and 15 very fast sec of fame.....dumbass.
