I hope the Arcade will come with a HDD soon, a 20gig to keep the price as is..

And the Elite will fill in the space for the pro.

Case 2 for me.

Why not case 1 ?

Because if Arcade gets a HDD then ... it is not anymore an Arcade !!!!
Also, since Arcade is considered at the low end model (well it is in a way), if you are going to stop it then you also leave awat the name of the sku to keep the "PRO" name that is largely more prestigious

Since, it seems, Arcade name is going to stay then ... Arcade will not get HDD

Also, 2 others point to keep arcade/elite over pro :

- Elite gets price cut : same offer but better pricing, it may attract some consumer without making MS lose too much money

- keep the offer diversity : elite big HDD for elite gamer, arcade, no HDD, for casual
at the end, u can supress Elite OR Pro BUT you have to keep ARCADE

- Arcade is not expensive to purchase but it is also less expensive to make because ... NO HDD
there is not way MS will stop making the less expensive model !!

Nice point...

Without evidence though.

I didn't realize that selling a 4 year old techonology and a 120 giga 2,5" HD (that costs 40 euros) for 300 euros makes the company loose money.

I mean, seriously, they sell a 40 buck thing for almost 150 $! And they still loose  money??? RLY???

Evidence please before you artistically spit the poison...

230 euros Elite FTW!

you didn't get it

I have no clue if they less the elite at loss or not

I meant : earn less money from Elite, so in a way, lose more money compared to before the expected Elite price cut

Time to Work !

299 Elite is not a price cut...just paying 299 for 100 gig extra storage...

It would be great if the Elite was going for $250.00.

You have no idea how many people think that...and the price will be half of the ps3 again (150 VS 300).

So...prepare to Jump In!

Didn't ioi say once in a thread that most of the 360's sells are made from the pro SKU? (like 75%)
Was that different during the last holiday season?

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

During the year its a higher Premium -> Arcade ratio, but during the holidays what matters more are the entry costs which are the costs of the basic SKUs and the costs out the door with games, so bundles play an important role. During the holidays the Arcade is relatively more popular than the Premium due to gift giving etc.

In markets like the U.S.A. where the relative pricing between the Premium @ $299 and the PS3 80GB are closer, the Xbox 360s stronger market presence wins them the day for the core market. The actual price difference out the door is actually relatively small, about $50 once you consider the Live gold membership that most of these SKUs are sold with amd the average sale price is about the same. So the Premium holds its own @ only $50 cheaper but the Arcade tips it in their favour.

In markets like the greater E.U. its the Arcade machine which likely wins out more and even before the price cuts Microsoft admitted that some regions had > than 50% Arcade adoption. This is due to the absolute price difference for the casual type market, but the Core market is much harder due to higher PC game sales (many Xbox 360 games are PC/360 crosses) and also because their exclusives aren't as popular there, for example Halo 3.

Tease.

This might be really old news but amazon.co.uk is no longer advertising the Pro in it's emails (just Arcade and Elite) and it's "out of stock" in Amazon.co.uk and Shopto.net, the 60GB is out of stock in Game.co.uk.

However You can still buy it from Play.com.

Amazon NOT advertising the Pro in the 360 advert makes it pretty dead clear that it's being discontinued.

I really hope the Elite is going to drop in price to fill in the very large gap between it and the arcade because the present pricing makes no sense.
