I don't know, but it seems like every casual gamer (and some hardcore gamers) that I've spoken to all have this idea that the PS3 is "light years" beyond everything else, including PCs. My entire family, for example, has this idea that I have the most advanced piece of machinery in the planet right now, and my brother, a 360 owner, thinks that the COD4 that runs on his console is a lot worse looking than mine (he runs it on an even better TV than mine).

It just seems like corporate brainwashing to me. Any of you experience this thing?

while the processor its impressive for calculations its light ahead of PCs.. if people were to thrash engine and go low level programming it would be the best cpu on the market only with competition from sparc.
but for running OS AMD and intel are better.

sony its known as premium price brand, their product have decent built quality, and have known how the make their products success, part of it, just luck.

sony radio transistor, was just some idea from a japanese dreamer. but they actually licensed the technology.

Cell is still a beast...not to mention back in '07.

RSX is noticeably aging, as is the 256x2 MB of RAM.

Honestly...has anything come close to Uncharted 2's graphics AND animations on consoles?

It is the most powerful, so it's not like Sony have deceived the general population.

True, but I'm sure by the end of the gen we'll see just how large the performance gap is.

Back when they made claims like that (2006-2007), it was unlike anything at the time. It had Blu-ray, SACD playback, and powerful hardware with an HDMI port capable of outputting 1080P (very rare at the time). On a value standpoint, it is unmatched.
