It's almost like people WANT Japan to be this weird fantasy land, by selectively going to those places... fuck, maybe I should judge the entire US by the sex shops in Pennsylvania near Philly, and the fucked up and weird people in NYC...

Excellent. Thanks stof, I think my wife and I may make that next years vacation. My wife and I already have plane tickets to go to Washington DC this year, which isn't quite as astoundingly awesome, but I've never been to the Smithsonian and I really want to go. But I think I'll try to go next year.

this is kinda misleading. Most people don't speak English. Most people speak enough English that work at the places that tourists would go if that's what you're getting at.

Wow there angryboy. I had a 4 day vacation in Tokyo. I went for the crazy. I get plenty of the timple/palace/culture/serene park life in Korea. And frankly, why would I not selectively go to the crazy places... It's my vacation!
hey guys, I just spent 4 days in Japan. Here are some photos of the suburbs I spent all my time in. This is a house, this is a convenience store. Oh look it's a field!
Besides, I left out some of the crazy photos of Japanese fashion in Harujuku and all the Hosts. hosts are male hookers. Our hotel was in the Shinjuku entertainment district. Full of all kinds of sex clubs. Including tons of "Host bars" full of guys that looked like pirates getting paid to have drinks with rich women.
There they are. Except in real life their hair is bigger and more piraty.

Because the date was non-negotiable (work long weekend) and I was with my girlfriend. No dorkyness allowed.
@ Jonsobas - So far I've been twice. Tokyo and Fukoka/Nagasaki. And we only had troubles once in a restaurant. Subways, Buses, food, tourist info, must see sights, people on the street. We were buffeted with way better English than we get in Korea. And Koreans spend all their time in English schools.

Exactly, subways, buses, food, tourist info in huge parts of big cities are gonna be fine they hire people that speak English. The average person isn't gonna speak English though.
Korea's education system is messed up, really messed up.
