Forums - Gaming - Remake of old games

I just remebered an awesome game from mid 90's, Time Commando and I couldn't help thinking that they(in this case, Activision, who owns the title) could remake the game using the same idea, but using a different aproach, maybe an RPG like gameplay, instead of Action/plataform, like the original. With the Technology avaible, it could become a very good game.

So, do you think is valid to get dead titles from the past and remake them? If so, what other titles would you want to see again with a modern aproach?

Yes, it is valid, and I'd like to see XCom (updated, no gameplay changes though), Solar Jetman, Out of this World, and Flashback.

Currently Playing:  Saints Row 2 | Battlefield 2 | Company of Heroes

Recently Beaten: Gears of War | Super Mario Galaxy | Darwinia | MGS4 | Sam and Max Ep. 4, Portal | Mirror's Edge | Uncharted | Mass Effect

Looking Forward to: Alan Wake | Splinter Cell : Conviction | The Last Guardian | Batman: Arkham Asylum | SMG2 | Mass Effect 2 |

Well, some games demand gameplay changes. Of course they don't please everyone, but I think the old gameplay became obsolete. One example is Fallout 3, wich is nothing more than a rebirth of an old series with a new aproach. I loved it. Some old fans hated it. But it gave the story and theme a new breath. Baldurs Gate could receive a similar treatment, maybe... I never played the old titles, but would probably grab a new take on them.

I too want to see X-com remake, there has been some remakes but all of them have failed horribly. :/

hmm..I propably have to install and start playing it yet again.

I'd love to see a re-make of Starquake or Bomb Jack. I spent many a day playing those on my old Amstrad 464!

A remake of some classics like Chrono Trigger, FFVII and Age of Empires 1 (I loved the time-period) would also be cool.

AoE would be awesome, but what new they could bring to they could bring to the table?

The orginal AOE is very old so even adding some of the features of AOE2, 3 & Mythology would help (forts, unique units to each civ, battle formations, land trade routes, Wonders that actually have a purpose). The problem is that the RTS genre is getting a little stale so its difficult to say what else would be a worthy addition. Maybe have a 2nd campaign mode more like Total War or Rise of Nations as well as the story mode.

I would love to see Ninja Golf remade, badass style of course! Maybe Tecmo and Sony can acquire the rights and make it a Ninja Gaiden/Hot shots golf hybrid!
