Price IS the only reason the PS3 is in third place. Why else is the gap between 360 and PS3 so small after 3 years, with the 360 selling for half the price after being on the market for 4 years!?

You're right, if the PS3 was the same price as the 360 it would be outselling it .... or would it? probably not seen as if it was the same price as the 360 it wouldn't have Blu Ray

8 1/2 million is small?

Take into account one year lead for XB360 on launch dates and how long XB360 has been cheaper (i.e., excluding Elite, almost always). And for its first Xmas PS3 was already launched only in half of its biggest markets, and plagued by blue laser shortages too. Considering how horribly expensive PS3 was and how bad Sony messed its own things, XB360 lead, despite not easy to fill, is very disappointing in relation to MS efforts and Sony mistakes.

Or just see how fast Wii wasted XB360's one year lead, less than one year IIRC.

If that lead is all MS was able to do with its immense resources and with competitors suffering heavy handicaps, Ballmer has some good reasons to jump like Tom Cruise, sweat buckets and throw chairs.   

The PS3 can outsell the 360 easily by 8 million, starting this year. Once FFXIII debuts in Japan, GT5 debuts all over the world, the price comes down to $299 (all of the happening this year hopefully, plus the Slim version still possible to come out as well). Add to that the incrementing Blu-ray sales. A $299 PS3 which can also play HD movies, with proper marketing I can see it selling above 16 million worldwide in a single year. The X360 had its best year in 2008, 11 million worldwide. This year it's tracking below 11.5 million, and that's it. It's going down from now on, I wonder if it can do 9 million next year...the PS3 has a couple of 15 to 13 million years under its belt, count on it.

Price cuts comming on both systems, nothing new here man, been like this for over 20 years. Consoles sell the most when they hit 199$, even though technically the 360 already did, a hard-driveless 360 ain't quite a 360. A 199$ hard-drivefull 360 will surge in sales, just like the PS3 will eventually.

I want a X720 now, or a PS4, whichever comes first, this gen is SO last gen...
