OT: It's being crushed by big fps games ; Modern Warfare 2 and Halo ODST. Also as some people mentioned, they rushed the game. Everything in L4D2 could have been in L4D. It's not hyped much, because it's mainly the same thing.

the game is more like an xpac for L4D...essentially the same with some minor improvements. I don't like the new characters either...I want the old ones back. 1 year development time? get real...
like someone else said earlier, if the game was being released next year it would get alot more hype than it is currently. At least with COD the development team changes from year to year. The same can't be said for L4D/L4D2.
This probably only matters this much because you want people to be just as excited about L4D2 as you are...which aint happening.

Which aint happening? Internet hype and internet boycotts don't have much impact on games sales.

The original didn't get a huge amount of hype, but it had great legs thanks to word of mouth, the holiday season and great reviews and that should transfer into the sales of the sequel.

I think you think that L4D2 is from some random FPS developer. I really hope you know that any game that says Valve on it sells better than any other FPS made by other companies in the genre. COD:MW2 has no chance in hell of outselling L4D2 unless we are talking about 1 platform vs 1 platform. The one platform being the 360. If its all platforms, COD:MW2 PS3 + 360 + PC has no chance to outsell L4D2 on 360 and PC.

I think announcing a sequel ~6months after release of the original has made a lot of Valve fans wary. Valve doesn't make sequels this fast. It's un-Valve. I think some of the PC community are a bit disappointed that they aren't getting it for free.

You're correct though, it deserves more recognition. Valve is the king of FPS afterall, singleplayer (HL) and multiplayer (TF2 not L4D).

there is already a left for dead, and less than a year ago, thats why there is no hype.

Bull crap.  I don't believe that for one second.  MW2 will probably sell 15 million total.  do you honestly thing L4D2 will sell that much? That means it would have to sell over 12 million on the PC and I'm pretty damn sure thats impossible.
