Forums - PC - New Left4Dead campaign coming out soon!

halflife2.net

Finally they release a new campaign. Too bad it has to cost money on Xbox Live.

---

"True to their word, Valve continue to add content for Left 4 Dead by adding a new campaign titled "Crash Course". This campaign bridges the gap between the end of the "No Mercy" campaign and the beginning of "Death Toll" in the original game, expanding the game universe with new locations, new dialogue from the original cast, and an explosive finale.

The new campaign will be available in September. Changes for versus mode are coming too:

While containing both Survival maps and a Co-operative Campaign, the primary goal of "Crash" is to deliver a complete Versus mode experience in just 30 minutes, resulting in a streamlined version of the game's existing Versus campaigns. A recharge timer for infected teammates has also been added, and item spawn behavior has changed for more balanced gameplay.
This DLC will be available for free to PC, but will be 560 Gamer points ($7) on Xbox Live."

Destructoid preview here. *spoiler warning*
It's geared as a versus campaign so it's only two levels long and will have around a 30 minute runtime. However, it can be played as a regular campaign as well as survival. Even though it's only two levels long, the preview mentions some interesting events that will take place that will make them exciting.

Oh, M$! No, thanks!

Finally! A new campaign :D

Sucks for Xbox360 owners. Probably Steam did this and gave the DLC free for PC owners so Steam can be like "dont say we didnt give you anything for free"

It might also be that Microsoft wants the DLC on Xbox Live to have a price which is one reason why Xbox Live hasn't seen any of the big updates we've seen on the PC version of Team Fortress 2.

No, I suspect it's because Microsoft has some policies about the ratio of free to paid DLC, and only paid DLC is allowed to add new achievements.

I hope that they have a free weekend event for this!

No it does not suck for 360 owners.

I'm happy to hear about this!

Oh you know, the commentary in Left4Dead talked about the helicopter pilot turning infected or something while flying the survivors out of the city and crash landed, but they didn't want to implement it because they felt it would hinder the player's feeling of success after fighting to get off the hospital. In fact, the pilot will sometimes mention that he had trouble when he made a stop on his way to pick you up.

Though since this is taking place between the two campaigns, it looks like they might be bringing it back?
