You know tomorrow can never come soon enough. This being a site about analysis also means that prediction is our bread and butter. Without prognostications this site would be missing a lot of its content. Speaking to what Sony would consider doing. Well Sony as bucked conventional logic for most of this generation.

For the company there really is nothing beyond consideration. Remember they took a blowtorch to their console early in the generation. Removing a lot of functionality they touted to death. All in an effort to be able to reduce the price of the console. So there really is a question about what they think is more important the features or the price. In the past they have sided with the price.

Hell most members here advocate price over function even if they do not parse the costs out of the equation. Speaking to features that Sony can cut to save money or make money. I would have thought charging five dollars a month for online is far more practical. You could save some serious hardware revisions there.

First of all to my knowledge account betting is prohibited on these forums. I think it has been that way for years. We were losing too many members to it from what I understand. I think signature bets are still permitted. However the signatures need to be agreed upon in advance, and obviously need to be within forum standards.

Second I have no clue what it is exactly what you want to bet on. That the outlandish rumor is true. Hell I don't even believe it is true. That a PS3 without a hard drive will be able to play games online. Can a current model PS3 even function without a hard drive. I am all for legal betting, but this seems a little convoluted to bet on a bad rumor, or to bet on something that could happen if a outlandish rumor actually comes to pass.

Seems like a lot of work for nothing. Care to explain further?

Oh, I know you're totally up front about the uncertain nature of these rumours. And they're great grist for the mill, so like I said, I'm not asking you to stop or anything. I just seen a few now, plus a joke thread or two, and I was wondering if anything ever came of any of them.

Still waiting for that Wii joystick that's coming bundled with Pilotwings and Starfox Wii. ;)

I seriously doubt there is a Starfox in development, but I think Pilotwings may actually still be a real possibility just not anytime soon. Speaking to the control I am reasonably certain that Nintendo has at least patented a similar accessory. Even if they do not intend to manufacture one. That said you can purchase third party stick controllers for the Wii already.

Things is, it doesn't sound feasible at all, because you're right. It'll take away what the PS3 is supposed to be, a multimedia, entertainment machine. No HDD means you can't save pictures, videos, songs, etc, which console CONSTANTLY tries to beat into our heads in order to give the PS3 a perceived value. And no online out of the box simply kills any strides Sony made on improving the PSN. PSN isn't "free" if you have to buy some accessory to connect to it.

Things like HDD, wireless, and ethernet are so unbelievably cheap, that taking them out makes this rumor seem implausible. Wireless cards cost $14.99 new. Ethernet cards cost like $5. And small scale laptop HDDs cost anywhere from $50 to $70 depending on size (especially with sizes going up so high. A terabyte only costs $100. Something so miniscule as 40GB should be way cheaper than what I said.)

For them to rip out those cheap things, all the while trumpeting that the PS3 is a media hub would be the largest scale showing of hypocrisy ever exhibited by any company in the history of ever

I wouldn't post a rumor that sounded like BS, you post way too many BS rumors like the 360 relaunch and I wouldn't mind seeing you gone.

Dodece i honestly believe you wrote this article but are claiming its a rumor from elsewhere as a backup plan just in case it fails, even when it strangely sounds just like your other articles you've written. You wrote this, posted it, and immediately everybody tore it apart, because it has ENORMOUS amout holes in it for the reasons we've listed..you realized youve made a mistake in your analysis and are trying to cover it up...,it pisses off off because its just as bad as the " remove Bluray from" BS.

You make some weak points, but I will dispel them to put you at ease. This thread which isn't what a article is by the way is a synopsis of a few similar rumors I have read in other forums. They are not transcribed verbatim. They are me presenting the rumor in my own words. So the original post should sound like something in my own words.

Also give me some fucking credit. Go review my April Fools threads. If I were going to scam these forums I could do a much more convincing job of it. In other words it would be something far more believable. Not something incredibly unlikely. The fact that this isn't very likely is pretty compelling evidence that this thread isn't some kind of scam.
