sounds too much for me
just too much
Time to Work !
Removing Wifi kills the remote play capablity Sony have been touting. Unless they want to damage their reputation even more (Removing PS2 B/C), they should keep the wifi in the PS3.
Whatever happened to the 9/25 relaunch of the Xbox 360 that Dodece posted...?
I also would discard this as being nothing other than a rumour! I mean why would Sony decide to remove the wireless capabilities of the console that is such a big deal when it comes to accessing the PSN for updates, games, DLC, friends lists and all the improvements they have made to the machine, such as Vidzone, Home, etc etc. This just would not make sense, not taking into account how cheap wireless chips are these days.
Also not having any USB ports is a HUGE no no since how would you be expected to charge the controllers, or plug in the PS Eye (one of the main components of the upcoming Sony-sense (or whatever it will be called lol) as well as Singstar and Buzz peripherals)...
I personally think this rumour can be disproved already without confirmation from Sony or otherwise as it just would not make any sense!

Yeah they need Wifi in the PS3 for remote play with the PSP, plus alot of games would be unplayable without a HDD, so I doubt any of this to be possible.
The rumor can't be right because:
1. USB ports can't be removed. You need them for charging controllers etc. It is simply impossible.
2. "Cheaper internal memory" is very unlikely right now also because internal memory is normally MORE expensive. Even 20 GB internal memory is much more expensive than 120 GB HDD. So cheaper internal memory can't allow any installs and has to be very small.
The only part which is possible is removing Wi-Fi. But even that is unlikely because that would PSP remote play very difficult (or impossible). Wouldn't make much sense when Wi-Fi only adds 2-3 bucks to total cost.
Didn't you start a rumour ages ago that was completely wrong....
Anyway, there have been rumours flying around that it will be without wi-fi, and the current models only have 2 usb ports and no memory card readers, so that is certainly possible. The one problem with this is that they have patented something so they can emulate the emotion engine, which would remove the need for the emotion engine you mention. I think there is no chance of it not being online capable out of the box, but I could see something along this line, followed by a bundle with the motion controller in the Spring
I certainly do think there is a possibility of a 40GB without wi-fi and other stuff going for
