Forums - Sony - Has Sony Just Won The Holiday Console War?

The answer is, yes they have won

Around the Network

What people don't seem to get is that even with a $299 slim, the 360 will be at least $100 cheaper and will mostly likely get heavily bundled. Given the economic situation, most holiday shoppers could care less about a $299 slim when there is $199 360.

If all of the wishes of TS come true and MS does nothing but make the elite the pro and bundle the arcade, Sony is still going to lose in the 2 relevant markets, NA and EU. Instead of the slaughter that will happen if there is no PS3 price cut, it will just be solid victory.

Yet, we have yet to hear what 360 is doing... Games-wise I think that they are pretty much even... Halo ODST, Forza 3, Magna Carta 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Risen, Section 8, GTA IV Stories from Liberty City, LIPS 2 vs. Uncharted 2, GT5, Demon Souls, FF XIII (Japan Only).

I don't know how a slim will increase sales... It is just a different case and I don't find the PS3 overly large the way it is today... Nice gimick but it isn't going to drive as many sales as it did with the PS2 I think.

Price cut will power sales... But, $100 is the minimum cut to make a difference. We will wait and see.

As for GT? Prologue was released over a year ago, so unless the GT maniacs who ran out to buy a PS3 (and there were a lot) are going to buy another one again I don't think it will drive as many new sales as some think...

Also, I doubt MS is just going to sit there and watch Sony... It seems to be that 360 is dropping Pro which will be replaced by Elite. Then, there might be a price cut to boot... And I am sure that Microsoft knows Europe likes GT so I expect them to take the mighty MS billion dollar marketing machine out and go after that space as well with Forza 3.

And what about Nintendo? What if they drop their price $100? How will 360 and PS3 fair against that?

It is way too early for fanboys to be saying which way this holiday season will go.

Can't we atleast wait until the end of October to make these kind of claims?

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

yeah and they gonna win over microsoft just because of the price-cut

LOL...Sony will not know what winning is for a very long time:

This Winter expect DS and Wii to take home the gold and silver respectively

360 will receive a very distant bronze

and The Playstation brand (Ps3 and PSP) will get their 3rd straight Click Here

Sig bet?

I would take it if handhelds were separate. So:

Wii>360>PS3

and

DS>PSP

Possibly but not yet.

I'm just glad that the writer knows that Wii owners like me don't care about games.

one thing, europe is not a nation

"They will know heghan belongs to the helghast"

"England expects that everyman will do his duty"

"we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender"

i think ps3 will outsell 360 no problem

(if theres a price cut)
