I don't know if you own a Wii, but I guess you do. In that case, you shure have played Twilight Princess. This game features a similar control scheme to Fifa, you hold the Wiimote and the nunchuck in the right and the left hand respectively.
In my opinion, this control scheme felt almost as a usual controller; if there was a difference, it only made the experience better for me.
Because of that, I don't see a reason why to add a Gamecube controller control scheme. On the other hand, I see good reasons for the easier control scheme that is also available and I really appreciate EA's idea about that. Imagine you are a 12-year-old boy and you like videogames and football. Your dad likes football too, but he usually doesn't touch video games.
With the Wii version of Fifa 08, you can play against him and the match will be equal. He can use the easy control scheme which is enough entertaining for him while you will be playing with the normal control scheme. You would play some really competitive matches and have a lot of fun together, while, if there were no easy control scheme, Dad would have no chance against you and would give it up after a little while.
