That too. (Hence why I said I felt like a moron not thinking about that) Speaking of which, perhaps the outcome would've been different if they did have the technology before the release.
I'd imagine the format war would have been different or ended faster and the cost to manufacture PS3's would be much cheaper so that the dreaded $600 price tag could have been avoided. Not only that, all PS3's might have been able to have backwards compatibility or at least it might not have been dropped after the 60/20gig units if they were already making a profit.
I suppose we could go on and on.

$600 is price for 60GB at launch not production cost. I think it is $850. So 70% of $850 is around $250.

Alot of things could be different if they had the tech at release. If Sony had the PS3 tech ready before xbox360 launch, things would've been different. If Nintendo failed motion control and released another GC things would be different.
Technology isn't as easy as you think. Sony did the best they could at the time. Its great to see them able to make the PS3 now at a profit though, lets hope they'll be in the black next yr constantly.
