why would they have ps1 backward compatibility in ps2?  Why would they have PS2 backwards compatibility in PS3?  The only reason they took it out is because they could cut hardware costs and they were bleeding loads of money.   

PS2 was losing them money but not like the PS3. They also weren't having the finacial issues throwout the entire company back then like they were right now... PS2 b/c was removed to reduce cost? YES. By doing that they also gave people a reason to continue to buy their more profitable PS2 as apposed to the PS3. Why bring it back and and continue to bleed more money?

I'm sure they would like to sell more PS3, but there's probably a limit to how many they want to sell at a certain pace.
