Forums - Microsoft - Will Natal replace the mouse?

If Natal can be used for all the new window manipulation stuff on Windows 7, I will buy one just for my computer and one for my 360. It would be really cool if MS could fully optimize Natal for Windows 7. I'm already pretty hooked on the new interface as it is, but I would love if if I could use Natal to drag things from monitor to monitor as well as do all the gestures to control my desktop space.

I'd move to macs if that ever happened.

It would be something new. I look forward to see what they can do.

No. No matter how you spin it, Natal will always be less accurate than a mouse.

To replace the mouse it would have to boast a superior interface, be easier to use, cheaper and very advertised. I have no doubt that it will fail at at the very least three out of four.

It could possibly be a complement to the mouse in certain situations and in certain locations.

By no means do I think it will replace the mouse by this time next year. However, I feel it will have potential to do so in later iterations.

Do you think it would be accurate as a mouse pixel-for-pixel?

I don't see myself having the ability to do any form of photo editing unless it could be as precise as a mouse (to the pixel at 800x magnification).

I think a touch screen could be more accurate than a mouse with photo editing. I don't necessarily believe that is the primary use of a mouse anyways.

Natal needs to have a text entry system for facebook and live. Voice or onscreen keyboard. Possibly air handwriting.

Repent or be destroyed

I hate to say it, but Apple will probably attempt to eliminate the mouse before anyone else does.
