Forums - Sales - The 360 Only Sold 0.1m More Than PS3 In Q1 Fiscal- 2009

Yea but that's not saying too much haha.

However given these numbers, it just shows how poor of a quarter this has been. Everyone down from last year in the same quarter. Only MS's drop is really small while Sony's and Nintendo's are quite large.

But with that, it seems like Nintendo Wii is the only one we have been tracking spot on if not a little bit under. Here's our sales at the end of June 27, 2009:

Wii- 50.81
360- 31.00
PS3- 22.63

We adjusted 360 already once but that still puts it very very close to shipments. Same for the PS3 too which with the shipments just out is possibly over tracked as well. I mean we showed sales that had them holding up during tough times but shipments do not represent that. I expect adjustments on both. Really with PS3 we show a virtual sell out. 360 we show almost a sellout. Given these hard times, if they had a chance to ship more they would have so obviously it's a little over tracked. Wii is probably almost spot on but that's almost 2 million behind shipments. Probably a little bit of under tracking.

But yea on the shipment game its getting tighter right now. 360 and PS3 separated by 100,000 and Wii only a million or so higher than both. Next quarter will be interesting but could be just as slow.

I'm sick of hearing this shipped excuse. Why would retailers keep ordering and allowing sony to KEEP over stocking (I mean this was the excuse for the holidays right) If it isn't selling well....

VGChartz Hardware data for the period 05th Apr 2009 to 04th Jul 2009:

Console PS3 X360
Total
1,381,352
1,597,627

See that? That means that Sony DID NOT keep overstocking. Quite the opposite, in fact. VGChartz has tracked around 300 000 more sales of PS3's than Sony has shipped in this period. And that means that the Xbox 360 has sold around 400 000 more than it has shipped. Stock is moving off the shelf faster than they fill it.

The PS3- 360 gap is less then 6 million consoles.. In a recent report someone here posted that Micrsoft has SHIPPED 30 million units. That meens that there are about 29 million sold. 24 million PS3's just about sold would meen theres a 5 million gap!

Who knew PS3 would start catching up this fast?

^ 30 million was last quarter. THey shipped 1.2 mil more after that.
