Forums - Gaming - Have we went more adavnce too fast?

Like I said in the title. Let me explain what I mean. I mean that have the HD systems
move so far  in a advancement that the costs are unbearable. When you think about it
the profits are almost nonexistant for Hardware. Is it because that making it so advance hurt them?
Have we moved too fast for technology. Also in the past systems would cost $200-$ 400
Today the consoles of high prices were really high  back in their launch. $600 dollers?
$400 dollers? That's alot of money. Sure the graphics improve like before. Though was all the
other stuff needed? Basicly Haave we moved too fast in technogly that prodution costs are too high
and we should've waited a little longer. Also think about how it happened in the past. The $700
3do could tell you some things

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true. 2nd UPDATE: I have no Switch 2. I am now behind

Over 54 million console owners don't think so.

No, HD consoles are doing great. What's important is that the HD consoles launched as a lot more powerful than in previous generations and therefore they're a lot closer to gaming PC's in quality. That's why you hardly see any PC exclusives this gen, because the difference is so small.

Myself, I beliebe we moved too slow, I was expecting a graphical leap seen on PSone - PS2 which would mean consoles this gen capable of something on par with Final Fantasy VII movie.

Consumers don't complain, except for the high launch prices of the HD consoles. Sony, Microsoft and third parties will probably think differently, because they lost so much money this generation. In a way gamers get more than they pay for, the question is when will companies stop pursuing such strategies.

I think they will stop on this next gen.  With this lesson now and economy, they have learned for sure.

Who remembers that commercial sony did when marketing the PS2 that showed some guy with glasses playing a game and they said that was the future with PS9 or something like that.  The guy started playing the game in his apartment and ended up on the street side walk.  I'd love to see that again if anyone has a link to it.

It's getting harder and harder to tell the difference in graphics as consoles get more powerful.

What you just described is called "overshooting" the market, and yes, probably it happened, based on the success of the only console that didn't do it.

Usually when it comes to technology, it is better to have inferior version than going too complex.

While the relevant majority of users usually don't worry that much about a bit weaker technology, they can be scared away by too much complexity, and high costs, so they might stick to the "inferior" version, and its slower upstreaming. (process of getting more advanced)

We're not stopping here.

Guillermote, the CEO of Ubisoft already declared that in next gen we'll see average big game budgets of $50 million instead of $20-30 million for a normal big budget HD title in this gen.

EDIT: actually he was refering to 'AAA' or 'major titles' and the number was $60 million in next gen, compared to $20-30 million today.

You guys are thinking about yourself at the consumers side what about the
people who sell the products? Do they make enough profit to stay alive or make money?
