Forums - Nintendo - I got WSR and Wii Motion + today and...

It completely gave me a 180 on my views toward the Wii and motion controls.  Even though I was a big Nintendo fan, I was pretty unimpressed with what the console offered until this point.  The motion controls were just frustrating and I really didn't want that to become the standard for gaming.  I was gladly going to stick with the classic controller and quit gaming if motion controls before Wii Motion + was going to be the standard.

The archery in WSR is completely awesome.  The precision is just so great.  I honestly think this control scheme can compete with the mouse over a few years of fine tuning.

I guess this is it, I like the Wii and PS3 the best this generation - which strattles alot of arguments here at VGChartz.  But, I think they both offer unique enough stuff in gaming that I can enjoy both.  I admit, the 360 has lost my interest after Cry On was cancelled and ToV was announced for PS3.  I'm not much of an online player either.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

I was so close to buying a Wii again this weekend.....so so so close. I just dont find the Wii sports line enough for the new 1:1 to justify the purchase.

If some cool games come out that are ace with it ill probably snap. Also if i were overweight id get it for wii fit but i dont feel it would actually make me healthier than simply running outside or else thatd be reason enough.

Up to this point my main problem with the Wii was it felt like motion control was more of a crutch rather than a more immersive experience for my style of games like Galaxy or metroid or even zelda.....i wish my friends still had their Wii's (haha) to try this out thoroughly but its good to hear you seem to have had teh same mindset as me and seem to love it.

the wii controls don't suck if you play wii games that use them right...........>_>

The IR pointer of the original wiimote is already competitive with a mouse. I can't think of a better pointing device to operate from a couch. It's not as stable as a mouse because it doesn't sit on a desk, but a mouse doesn't track orientation like the IR camera does.

The gyroscope of WM+ does do a pretty good job of tracking fine changes in orientation, but its susceptibility to getting lost prevents it from really being an effective pointing technology on its own. It can be used to slightly enhance IR pointing, but I think the improvement in gesture recognition and fidelity is far more relevant.

meh. Its too subjective. I can understand saying certain consoles or even genres could use this argument for their product but to say that about something so standard and important as controls is a bit of a stretch.

If motion control is the base of the control scheme it should work well on all games...i can definately see this response in regards to the PS3 sixaxis as its sort of a supplement, a supplement that has provided absolutely zero relevence in any PS games to this point IMO thus you can play any PS3 game with the option on or off to my understanding except for little things liek turning door handles or something and even then its not immersive or cool or more interactive its just there.

The main control scheme console wide shouldnt be a variable in the experience of a console in general. But then again im definately in the minority in my feelings on the wii and its control scheme as evident by sales.

What? There are a lot of wii games that have suck ass controls that is why i'm saying that. Usually the best games on the wii are ones that use the controls well.

yeah it should work well depending how good of a job the dev did.  The sixaxis was a failure. Sony was trying to counter Nintendo's new controller but failed. Pretty much  a lot of games that used it sucked with it. Factor 5 couldn't do a good job with it.

You are just to negative about the wii.
