Forums - General - What do you tip your waiter? On average.

i get £5.65/hour at my waitressing job.. the only people who usually tip in percentage are tourists, the locals just kinda round it up to a few pound more than the cost of the meal. like if the meal comes to £26.87 they'll leave £30 or whatever. all our tips gets split between whoever's workin the bar that night (2 or 3 of us) and the kitchen porter. i can leave a 4-hour shift with like £15 in tips. it does help.

on the flip side of things, i cant afford to eat out very often at all (lol) but the few times i have been out we always chip in and try to leave at least a few pounds each.

Zero. I live in Japan. Why should I tip someone for doing their job??

Well, in the US you make less than half of the federal minimum wage. They are paid so low because they're allowed to make up for it with tips.

5 bucks but it depends if its a good waiter

TO GOD BE THE GLORY

I'm shocked and appalled at the ignorance of people that don't tip.

I generally tip 15-20% just depending on how good the service is.

But seriously, tightwads, just tip the damn waiter/waitress, they don't make jack shit without tips, and they aren't serving you just for the fun of it.
