If you're too anxious to play it and can't wait then i must recommend importing a PAL copy of the game and installing Homebrew on your Wii to play it. I too am puzzled as to why it hasn't been released is the US yet but i'm sure it'll arrive sooner or later.

you could always get the homebrew channel, and that app that changes your wii's region (basically un-region locking you wii)

NO thanks. I think I'll just have to buy the GC version soon and then trade it for the Wii version once it comes out (because I have to have it on Wii). Lord knows I have enough money.

on the Gamecube

It's really a shame that Nintendo didn't bring the best Pikmin game to North America. Instead the give us the first game which was really fun but no where near as fun as the second. I of course bought Pikmin2 day one for my GameCube so the NPC isn't exactly one I intend to buy. But if they aren't releasing Pikmin2 what about Pikmin3 that better see a North American release!

It will be released soon, surely. It's just taking time. Little King's Story took a few months to get released in America as well.
