Forums - Gaming - Why is Sonic still so popular?

I disagree...

There are SOOOO many ancient Sony die hards that would jump all over a good Sonic game if it was made... unfortunately the quality is waning and what made the pervious sonic games so good doesn't really exist any more.

Anyone who says Sonic Rush is better than the Sonic's on Genesis has no appreciation for the masterful music in the originals... I don't mind Rush but I just CANNOT play Sonic games without those awesome Melodies...

WHY THE HELL HAVE ALL THAT NOSTALGIA AND NOT USE IT? Remix the old tunes like they do in Mario games... FFS get a clue Sega

Mario is pretty much one of the only other series that has nostalgia on par with Mario games.

Sorry for my outburst,

I'm an EX die hard Sonic fanboy.

my five year old LOVES sonic, his most favorite character in any media

Never underestimate the power of Branding. Sonic isn't just a game character, he's a brand, so kids may know him from a cartoon and buy his game as a consequence. Or alot of people may have never played a Sonic game, but they know who Sonic is. So when they goto get a game, there's a sense familiarity (ie: safety) in getting the known brand.
