Forums - Nintendo - What's next for Wuhu island?

Miyamoto famously stated in a recent interview that he likes the idea of Wuhu island becoming another sort of Nintendo 'character', heavily implying that it will feature in future games. But how do you think Nintendo will use this concept?

Wii Fit Plus is the obvious first answer, since the original Wii Fit included a simpler version of the island anyway. Any further Wii Sports games are also very likely. But I think it might be interesting if you could visit an ancient version of Wuhu island as part of the next Zelda game. Maybe There could be a temple where the Mysterious Ancient Ruins currently lie. Perhaps there could be a boss fight inside the Volcano. Could Nintendo be planning to give Wuhu island some kind of 4-dimensional depth?

What are your thoughts?

I suspect Wuhu Island will be kept in the world of Wii games only (IE: WSR, Wii Fit Plus, etc).

The only exception might be a level in the next Super Smash Bros.

Mario's Island maybe, like Yoshi's island?? Hyrule is too epic to be removed, so...Pikmin 3?

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

Wii Motorsports? it's about time to release this game and i would love to see that compilation.

Captain Rainbow kind of game for western audience would be also cool.

Some kind of MMO game.

Wii motorsports was rolled into Wii Sports Resort (planes, jet skis, wakeboarding)

My guess, Mario kart track on Wuhu.

Otherwise the next version of Wii Sports (prob. on Wii 2) will either have the same or a variation of Wuhu.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I agree that Wuhu will likely crop up in the next Smash and Kart games.

Mii MMO anyone? Nintendo said they were considering doing something like that, but only when the time was right.

As for the Zelda idea, I kind of like that, but I don't see it happening.
