Forums - Gaming - Which game mechanic would you get rid of?

I would get rid of bad character design. I would also get rid of first person camera controls. Metroid prime and halo 3 are good examples of first person games though.

I would also bring back boss battles. I would get rid of poorly done QTE's like what you see in kung fu panda and star wars the force unleashed.

My name is blubeard because rosie has a blue beard. Just not on her chest.

I would get rid of characters that are annoying and rag doll physics.

QTE for sure, and grinding that adds unecessary hours of gameplay. They're just not fun at all.

Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

I wouldn't get rid of all action RPGs, just the ones made in Japan. Bring back turn based, plz.

QTE's for sure.

Also, regenerating health. It's so casual.

Pixel Art can be fun.

Repeating spawns (especially endless spawns like in Call of Duty is outrageous)

QTE's always sux big times. It's just weak game design.

Regenerating health, maybe sometimes it's okay but as fast as in Halo 3 is too fast.

On rails gameplay should be forbidden.

I would get rid of cutscenes and games that prioritize story and characters above gameplay, (most new final fantasys, MGS4) and first person rpgs. Maybe it's just me but I liked games that were fun more then setting my controller down for a good 10 min every time I kill something.

Seconded.  Cutscenes need to go, now.  I think Bioshock handled it pretty well, they put their "cutscenes" in the actual game world, as opposed to switching to some cinematic.  Story exposition is great, IMO, but when it's being done in a manner where your gameplay is interrupted and you are forced into a passive role, that is uncool in the extreme.
