Removing the Federal Reserve borders on the insane. Also he blatantly lies or is simply ignorant when he says there won't be inflation without the Federal Reserve. The money supply must go up over time, otherwise a permanent recession (or a dramatic reduction in real wages) will occur. There is a reason why central banking is prefered to free banking (allowing banks to set interest rates and the money supply) and there's a reason that economic volatility has decreased substantially since central banks decided to focus primarily on controlling inflation.

A reduction in taxes is of course welcome by the voters but is not the greatest of ideas. One we've already seen substantial tax reductions over the past seven years. Two it is doubtful that he can reduce expenditures at a greater rate than he can reduce taxes. At the end of the day the US needs to increase taxes for the rich and reduce them for the poor, Bush focused almost entirely on providing tax cuts for the affluent so the poor now pay a far greater percentage of the tax burden than they did in the Clinton years. Furthermore, the US is the only first world country with a third world health system and whilst the system can run more efficiently it is clear that any responsible President must act to fix this embarassing system and no doubt this will necessarily involve increasing government spending.

Furthermore, having never voted for a tax increase or an unbalanced budget I have to wonder what he would do in a recession? Afterall, a recession reduces tax income which will mean that he'll further reduce government spending, which reinforces the recession, which reduces taxes and so on and so forth. Deficit spending is important, if only because it provides a way out of a recession. This is all the more important given that he wants to rid the country of its central bank.

Socially he makes a lot of sense but its hard to not make sense being anti-war these days. For the most part I agree with him on social issues (or at least his opinions that I'm aware of). However, economically he appears to be a massive risk unless he gets some decent economic advisors around him. That said he does sound genuinely honest and that is rare in itself.

What (s)he said.  I also consider myself a libertarian (little l, just like steven787), and frankly this country scares me at times.

Also, I am going to do a little home-state pride right now and pimp out Russ Feingold to anyone who is a big fan of a balanced government (as we all should be).  Look him up on Wiki, or look up his voting record.  Both speak for themselves.  He's been one of the concord coalition (federal spending watchdog group)'s top 2 senators every year since 1998.  He also is the only Senator to vote against the USA PATRIOT Act out of concerns for civil liberties.

Basically, he's a smart libertarian in Democrat clothing.  He is the *only* politician that I trust to make good decisions on my behalf; part of that comes from having met him (woo wisconsin) and part of that comes from the fact that last time he was elected, somewhere around 90-95% of his campaign funding came from indiviuals and were smaller than $200 [or thereabouts... I will edit with real numbers after i look them up].  Now THAT'S a politician representing his consituency if i've ever seen one.

Im not sure if I will support anyone in this election. Although I will work whole-heartedly to keep the power hungry woman out of office.

@ Rath
I would suppose you are refering to me whenever you saying rednecks and all. I suppose your right. Being that I live in Southern USA, and I pissed if Hillary was elected. Feel warm and bubbly.

Do you not want her in office because of her gender? If so I will feel warm and bubbly on your behalf if she gets elected.

If you dont want her elected because of her policies then I'll have to find somebody else to feel warm and bubbly for.

Same applies for Obama, some people would have a fit at the thought of a black man in office. Him being elected would also make me feel warm and fuzzy.

You'll find that most of the Republicans are fearful of Hillary Clinton because she's a woman. There's really no explanation for it other than that. If they don't like liberal policies, then why are they not more fearful of Obama or Edwards? Both are significantly more liberal than Clinton.

Republicans are based in the South, and most come from families who grew up hating black people.. since racism against black people is no longer publically acceptable, they have moved their hatred toward women, immigrants and homosexuals.

thats why I like Ron. The reason why most American's hate immigrants is because we gain over 300 illegals just in the south portain of California each and every day. They are hurting out economy because they dont spend the money they earn here. They send it to their families in Mexico which makes it so that we lose money.

Ron doesnt seem to be really against homosexuality, he is like me, if your gay thats great just dont flirt with me and things are all good. I'im friends with quite a few gays and lesbians (more lesbians).  I agree that they have their personal freedom to do what they want and the government state or federal shouldnt have a constitutional right to stop them.

As for women, this isnt anything of Ron's problems but the reason why some people are worried about Clinton getting in office isnt that she is a women its because of her retarded plans. If you watch the videos from the YouTube/CNN debate she makes herself look like a complete b*tch and an idiot.

My opinion of Republicans is very low at the moment, but if the Democrats let me down(which is quite likely), I may have to consider him.

Damkira your just like most Northerners, your opinion of the South is just as biased as those your are opposing.

I'm not even from the South, but I moved here several years ago I can assure you there is no more Racism then you will find in the North & Midwest (which is where I'm from).

And Stof "I like Ron Paul's personality and personal integrity. To me he's the Republican version of Dennis Kucinitch. But I could never vote for him because his policies and political ideologies just don't make any sense to me. But then again, most U.S. policies and ideologies don't make sense to me either."

That's because all of Europe is a socialist utopia now. Sadly America is sliding that way too, giving up Freedoms in exchange for protection from the government (in all aspects of our life).

I'm a staunch Libertarian, take care of your own shit, and hope the government keeps the fuck out of my activities as long as they don't infringe upon the rights of others. I would take freedom over economic safety any day of the week.

For the gaming aspect of it, look at Germany, the UK, and other European countries where Mature games are being banned. At least we still have most of our Freedom of Speech :)

My ass. You can be arrested for swearing in public here, I've personally seen it happen. That's about the furthest thing from freedom of speech there is.

^^ Sorry if it looks like I'm attacking Europe. I'm from Germany, but I can't imagine living there right now given the current political situation.

As for being arrested for swearing in Public, that deals with localities and depends on the situation. You can say whatever you want as long as it doesn't infringe on the rights of others.

Ever hear of the guy over here who was out on a boat? He was like 2, 300 feet out on a lake, and some people were on the shore, and his boat started started sinking, and he was swearing up a storm while they were rescuing him, I'd be swearing too if my boat was going under, and somebody on the shore sued him and won because their son had heard some swear words.

Never unserstood the point behind getting pissed at swear words, anyway. "Hey! We don't like that word, you can't say it anymore!" And I never followed this country's constant censorship laws, when it specifically states in the constitution freedom of expression, freedom of the press, and freedom of speech. Censorship totally invalidates them all.

I wouldn't say we've somehow lost most of our freedom of speech, and would in fact argue we have more of it here than on your side of the Atlantic. The authorities here are a bit touchy with extreme violence (I would hardly describe Manhunt 2 as "mature"), but that's nowhere as silly as how insecure America seems to be with nudity and sex.

Not trying to start a flame war or anything, but can't let you go with a remark like that. =P

Yeah, seriously. I don't understand why governments think they need to regulate entertainment, violence wise or sex wise. Let em do whatever they want, eventually they'll stabilize themselves. Half the reason they think sex and violence is cool is because it pisses off the squares.
