I've been playing through Zelda on my NES for the first time and i got the map in Dungeon 3 and i was like...WOW!

its a swastika..i'm jewish and i'm not offended or anything i'm just surprised..actually i think its hilarious...is it in the VC version?

i know its a symbol in the Asian world for good luck but i'm really surprised they didn't change the dungeon around in the US version..

anyway..thoughts?

Well to be fair, The Legend of Zelda was made before the swastika was a bad thing. Now it's a little taboo. Like I wouldn't suck on a swastika-shaped mint, but back in the 1980's it was all good in the nieghborhood.

A swastikia being bad or not is all in your opinion..
in my opinion it was bad before the 1940's cause its a pagan symbol..

Zelda's very old. It's almost as old as me, and I'm pretty damn old. Look up the history of the swastika and you'll see how early Zelda places into it's past.

I was so close to correcting you, but now I see what you did there. You should have worded it a bit different, but nicely played regardless!

The swastika is not good or bad in itself, anyone that believes that is an idiot - swastika is only a geometric shape. What matters is the meaning behind using the swastika, and that meaning could very well be insane (such as glorifying the nazi). See the hexagram, which is a holy simbol for the jews, yet it is/was used in witchcraft.

The swastika is just a geometrical shape, people!
