It is a shame he is not playable in the Demo but we have the full game to get soon to play him, so makes it something to look forward to lol

It was a great demo even though i wish it could show all the button and combos.

It's a subgenre of Fighters I call "Brawlers" [I also think that's the correct term].

Games I feel that fit this genre:

Smash Bros. Series
Naruto Ultimate Ninja Series
Budakai Tenkaichi Series [think that's how it's spelt]

It also does have quite a few RPG like elements.
Brawlers I knew with a few RPG like Elements:

Ultimate Ninja 2/3/Storm
Budakai Tenkaichi

Uhh... I played the Japan version and it doesn't really work that way...

You equip a certain set of moves for the following commands

O
Back+O
Forward+O
Square
Back+square
Forward+Square

One for on Land, the other for mid-air

Some moves like pressing O, you can keep pressing O [or hold] for combos. I don't think there are any combos for square, the square is strictly for attacking brave points with single strong moves.

Then you have other accessories you can equip [it uses slots. You may have notices a move for dashing at a target with R+Triangle. You don't have that right out the gate in the Japan version, you have to equip that. Their are accessories like that and other things like increasing stats.

Equiping moves and abilities takes up points. As you may guess more powerfull stuff needs more points. You increase the amount you can carry by... YOU GUESSED IT!!! Leveling up. And of course you level up by fighting. Sometimes you level up mid-match, found that wierd. You also gain EXP by winning... or course.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi
