Forums - Nintendo - Just got Final Fantasy III

The only upside to III is the job system, but the system in V trumps it anyway. It's easily the worst Final Fantasy game, at least, it is for me. It's one of those games that will really frustrate you, not due to difficulty, but due to poor design choices.

I'm also not a fan of the fugly chibi-graphics, but that's just me.

No FF II was the worst FF game.

Says the man who loves Dragon Quest.

Also I agree with Aion on the FFII being the worst in the series.

Pixel Art can be fun.

I agree. Final Fantasy IV (SNES) is very boring. I also agree Final Fantasy III (NES) is not as fun as Final Fantasy V (SNES), but they are very similar.

@SmokedHostage It's not that I hate chibi, I just dislike Matrix soft's graphic engine for some reason. Also, DQIX is the only game in the series with heavily exaggerated chibi-style characters.

I wouldn't call Final Fantasy II a great game, but it did keep me more interested than III did by far. FFIII is the only mainline game that I haven't bothered to finish.

Dragon Quest uses sprites for the character models instead of polygons and that does indeed look much better. Also, I was surprised to find out that Dragon Quest IV is a good game after how bad DQ VIII was. I think it's just Level 5 that sucks at making JRPGs, because Rogue Galaxy was pretty bad too. I may buy DQ V in the near future.

I would recommend V to anyone. Not only is the gameplay more varied than IV due to the monster training portion, but, in my opinion, the story and characters are much more interesting.

I think Final Fantasy V is the best Final Fantasy.  I highly recommend it and I would like to see it on Virtual Console.

ok seems like I started an argument, Ill play both, dont worry, which should I play first though, III or IV

The job system is fairly attractive in FF III (DS) The game is on the short side though and the story is sorta lacking for a FF game. FFIV (DS) would be only a slight improvement- it still doesnt' compare to other RPGs found on the ds though.

theyre both pretty good games. not great but pretty fun. id play 3 first. 4 is a touch more epic i find.

8th gen predictions. (made early 2014)
PS4: 60-65m
WiiU: 30-35m
X1: 30-35m
3DS: 80-85m
PSV: 15-20m

I've played through both entirely.

FF 3 was originally an NES game, and it shows.

All the dungeons are very similar, lackluster characters, and I don't like the job system.

FF 4 is an SNES game and you can see the improvements in story and character, it's much more difficult, better dungeons, and voice acting! (granted it isn't the best).

If u had to play one I would say play four, I don't think it's amazing but it's at least fun. I had a hard time getting enough enthusiasm to finish 3.
