Forums - Gaming - The "I win" button. The future of gaming?

I don't see the problem with this function - I would have used it on Metroid Prime 1 and 2 if I could have as I ended up trading them both before reaching the end (in both cases because of boss battles I just couldn't win). I'd also like the feature as I'm playing Little King's Story - I've probably spent 4 hours trying to beat Duvroc now, and while I'm sure I'll manage it eventually, it might take another 4: enjoyment-wise, I'd rather be able to just tell the game to imagine I've beaten him (if only so I don't have to sit through the cutscene that introduces him for the twentieth time).

This function is just like having an expert player next to you who can help you when you need it.

I see no problem with it. Who are you to tell other people how to enjoy their game?

I can't imagine why anyone would need to use this in a 2D Mario, though. They're as linear and straightforward as games get.

I can't come to like this new "Win-button" thing. Mario games haven't been that hard since the first few games.

If it's optional, why do you have any problem?

If you are tempted to use it at all, then you are on of those it's aimed at.

No but games this gen are extremely hard.

Such a button is disgusting. I hate cheats and glitches that allows you to exploit a game and win, and Im even skeptical to be able to change the difficulty level in the middle of a campaign.

The reason is that it's kinda like a drug, it's just too tempting to do it. At least for me it often is. But afterwards you feel like you ruined the experience when you 'cheated'.

So I want games to restrict my abilities to make the game too easy, because my mind simply is too weak to not fall for the temptation of the moment.

You really think that?! O_o

On topic: I see it as having difficulty levels. No big deal.

i probably wont use it, but for those who are new to games and probably have never played a 2d mario game, this is a good thing. now if you cant beat a certain area, you can watch the game do it and learn about how to it yourself. otherwise there would be tons of people who lose interest because its to hard for them.

Fable 2 and Bioshock both had respawn with no penalty so real games with absolutely no difficulty are already here.

I play games at whatever level I feel is a good balance between difficulty, reward and frustration. Unsurprisingly this is called Normal.
