Well, there have been arguments on Vgchartz for some time as to which franchise is currently bigger, Halo or Gran Turismo. With the current main Halo game clocking an impressive 10 million in the coming weeks ive decided to determine a way to find out the size of the respective giants of world gaming.
I think comparing sales directly would be unfair, so simply work out the attach rate. This should determine which is currently the bigger franchise.
As of today the xbox 360 has sold
31,280,000
Halo has sold 10,000,000
That is roughly a 33% attach ratio, impressive. I suspect it will remain roughly around this mark for the remainder of the generation.
As of today the PS3 has sold
22,870,000
If Gran Turismo was released tommorow it would mean it would need to sell roughly 7,500,000 to hit the 33% mark.
I have my doubts about it hitting that 7.5 million mark and considering the PS3 numbers will continue to rise i have my doubts that it would be able to have to the legs to keep up.
Have i completly done this wrong?
