Most 2D fighters don't give you a combo list. I have no idea if 3D fighters follow this trend since I never play them. Still, most of the combos in this game are simple stuff like jump in C/D -> C/D or a couple A/Bs -> special/super. Most (all?) character have corner juggling stuff with C+D and have Critical Counter combos (custom combos basically) as well.

1up was talking about it this/last week on their podcast. They essentially said that it feels more like a step backwards than a reboot. Far fewer characters, far fewer moves per character, feels simplistic compared to previous editions. They ended on a positive note saying that maybe it will be retooled in future iterations to make it better, but as it stands it has too much competition from other 2d fighters such as SFIV and Blazblue to be as lackluster as it is. I think it looks cool (love pixel art), but I'm not a diehard KOF fan, so I will probably just pass on this one.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

I remember playing KOF a lot on the Arcades years ago, never got around to explore this game in depth. Shame if the end product is bad, but you cant always trust reviewers.

Okay, after playing this for a few days I think I'm going back to Blazblue.

It was nice knowing you SNK!

Don't be so flippant, you!

I can understand the anger towards this game considering It's price tag and lack of characters but for me It's a pretty fun KOF. It's a step backwards per say to KOF 98 UM because that has all the characters, ex versions of characters, etc. But as long as this sells well enough this should be the ground work towards a larger character selection and some of the moves going in place.

If you want to play me over Live just send a message. I had some lag free matches earlier and I suck really bad at this game so I'm free wins.

It's just that simple.

I just think that SNK had a good chance to attract a lot of new fans with this game, but they put out a pretty miserable product that even some fighting game enthusiasts are mad about because of atrocious online play and a complete lack of playtesting (Raiden's super glitches the game when done to Elisabeth - if they can miss something like that I image there are other minor but potentially gamebreaking glitches). It's a shame because they make good games and the engine in KOF XII is great, but given how polished Street Fighter IV and BlazBlue are, you can't really get away charging full price for a game that essentially lacks any real single player option (arcade mode is just a time attack) and has horrible online netcode to boot.

Why would I want to play a game with horrible netcode when I can play Blazblue or Street Fighter IV, both of which have much better online play? If I really wanted to play KoF I'd just go on GGPO or drive down to the local arcade (which probably isn't an option for most people).

And there's no Mai - I don't care but apparently a lot of perverted KoF fans do. Ema Skye is much better than Mai, though. Ten times better, in my honest opinion.

They sure do.

I guess SNK needs to start working on Mai DLC then
