Word. I'll try that next time...
| Carl2291 said: http://www.gamesonsmash.com/?p=8164 I think after this life cycle is over Microsoft will focus solely on their software and operating system. They have only commented on their longevity in out lasting the Playstation 3, but nothing in regards about making another console. |
And that sums up the wish of everyone who is anti-Microsoft in the console business. Or, it is at least a WISH of them. Microsoft has a Zune for a reason, and the XBox brand for a reason, it is so that they have a foothold in an area that has growth. This is why they are there, and they are willing to lose money to do it, as they had done with Internet Explorer, in order to eventually dominate it.
I would be curious to see exactly Microsoft try to write code in an area where they don't have a foothold on the platform. An exception to this is Mac, but you don't see them doing Nintendo or PSP games for handhelds. Microsoft refuses to be a competitor where they don't control the platform, as a norm. If they drop out of the hardware business, then they are done doing games, and won't have any presense in the videogame business. If you may of noticed, they don't have any studios now that do games for PCs.

Wow, that looks kinda like a haiku!
Squilliam, I didn't know you did poetry on the side!
I hope that the 720 *does* come out, there are a lot of XBOX consumers out there, and i'd love to have them buy Blu rays as well as the PS3 crowd and get Blu in more households.
^ There are actually more digitial distribution boxes in households than Blu Ray players if you count the Xbox 360 and PS3 as such in the U.S.A.
Tease.
Perhaps, but that's pretty weak, I mean mabey 15 or 20% of consumers maximum even hook their game boxes up to the net. Face it, physical media is here to stay and the 720 is going to be a big boost for blu.
Im willing to bet they aren't going to pay the $10 per box fee to allow playback. Its just not a priority for them as the people who wanted BR would have bought it by then.

Sorry, this is a Xbox 360 vs PS3 debate.
Oh and the TVs that can stream, the TVs which are coming with a Natal inteface built in and the cable boxes which do on demand streaming...
Tease.
