Forums - Sony - I wonder when we can get full downloadable PS2 games...

Obviously, Microsoft is able to get original Xbox games off the shelf so it's not a tech issue.. why can't Sony do the same thing? I want to re-play God of War 2 (I've lost my old PS2 already)...

I also want to replay PS2 games. I havnt played SoTC yet and it would be perfect if it released on PSN.

I think the problem with this is that only the original PS3's and the later 80GB model just after these has the PS2 capabilities in it to run these games, so unless Sony release a SW upgrade to allow this to be fully software based like the PS1 emulation on the PS3 then i don't think they will be doing this. I mean, why release a service which only a percentage of the installbase can take advantage of, there would need to be the FW update first, then the games!

Here's hoping this is something that is in the pipeline

You'd need a very large HDD...

I have a 500gb hdd (with like 50 something psn games on it)...

40GB would collapse!

+ theres no PSN cards. Sony need to sort that out 1st!

Wasn't there a rumor going around that they are trying to use the cell to make an emulator to play ps2 games in the next update? maybe we will see ps2 games in the PSN when this is enabled (if that rumor is true)

Yeah but figure (wild guess) the average PS2 game is 6GB. The average user could only download 6-13 games.

Well i only have 10GB left on my 40Gb and have 4 psn games and no movies or music. I couldnt survive.
