Except for the fact that golf games have been outselling hockey games for a while.
Tiger Woods Golf succeeded on the Wii so much for two reasons (imo):
1. One of the first games to take advantage of WM+
2. The style of the game fits the Wiimote perfectly. It's basically all swinging, which you can now reinact perfectly with the Wiimote and WM+. There are so many components to hockey - skating, passing/shooting, hiting/checking, diving/blocking, etc. - that doesn't mean it can't work, but that it definitely won't be able to capture the sport 100% like it can with golf.
