Forums - General - Space, Time, String Theory and Ghosts (old theory of mine)

Building my theory:
After looking into the concepts that professional ghost hunter have lain out as signs of the paranormal. The "orbs" that represent human spirits and electro-magnetic fields which also represent that a spirit is in the area. Also some of the "high pitched speech" that audio tape recorders pick up. I put all the information I found on it and seen on television thanks to the Discovery Channel and applied it to the idea of the string theory and the 10th dimension.

My Theory:
After taking the concepts given by the sources listed above and history of ghost sightings and applying them to my own. I came up with a basic idea of how to put it all together and explain it.

First
We must look at the history of ghost sightings. All the ghosts we have ever seen always wear clothes from at least 70+ years ago. And they are always “haunting” the place they died.
Second
All ghost sighting always has electro-magnetic field/waves around the area and those orbs. The orbs are always floating around a precise area bunched into a group. Now since each orb gives off its own bit of electro-magnetic force. I’ve come to conclusion that orbs are nothing more the then remains of a weak electro-magnetic shift in a small area.
Third
Because of the way the string theory and 10th dimension is explained. And all probability is controlled by the strings contained in the 10th dimension. There is a chance that the strings overlap each other causing a time distortion.

Ghosts always seem to walk the same path and do the same thing(s). There’s a chance that time repeats itself in these distortions. Showing glimpses of the past as it actually happened.
Think about it for a second. Some of the sightings say something about people hanging themselves from ropes. But the ropes aren’t there after it happens. So since a roof is none-living it can’t cast a spirit.
I’ve seen the reports where people say that have been attacked by a spirit. Truthfully there’s many ways that the scratches could have happened.
1. Time distortion could be strong enough to bring your subconscious into the past for a few second and put it under a cat, throw you into a tree, ran over by an old vehicle, or maybe truly attacked by someone in the past.
2. The person dreams the whole thing and during the night scratches himself not knowing it.
3. A time distortion brings a person’s subconscious into our time for a few seconds and they freak and attack.
Now however unlikely these seem. Which believe me 1 and 3 do more then 2 does to me. There is one thing that I can state that has enough fact behind it to make part of this or at least bring in a few more categories of ghost sightings.
The ghosts are always wearing stuff from the past and are doing things in the past that they did. Walk around, kill themselves, search for something or someone. There are always magnetic fields involved in every sighting that is researched.

Now this is what I believe to be true. As the years goes by there will be more and more ghost sightings. The more sightings there are. The more data there will be that will be collected. I believe that my theory does hold true in most accounts of ghosts. Considering it can be backed up by the string theory and the 10th dimension theory.

Man I really like the string theory and the M theory. Myself I really do believe in those things. I mean they are so funky its like I have to go with them. Membranes and such, an infinite number of universes and things.

I think you need to learn the definition of a theory. A theory takes multiple tests that conclusively show the same results under various circumstances. All you have here is a guess, and it's not a very good one since so many actual theories that would stand in contradiction of what you have here.

wow, want a cookie? that isn't a theory btw, it's a hypothesis.

Wow I love all the naysayers who are willing to come in here and bash it but have no reasons why. At least try to make your point or don't even bother posting your negative crap in the first place. If all you want to do is get your jollies off by putting someone else down than find another forum to post on. But if you genuinely want to contribute then help him refine his hypothesis or explain why its wrong.

Anyways, I personally think there could be something to the idea that the existence of ghosts  and ghost sightings are related to or caused by natural phenomenon. It would explain why we are able to build machines to detect them in the first place. Unfortunately, we tend to have a way as a society to label the unknown as paranormal which immediately grants it the associated fringe stigma and thus very little research is done. Sadly there is so little research in this area it is hard to tell if there is truly nothing to this or if its just not being given its due course.

With that said, I don't believe it has anything to do with repeating time or really anything time related. The reason for this is actually quite simple, and you pointed to it in your topic title. Space and time are not separate they are one. So anything linked to space-time like a repeated event would be would also be linked to the space it occurred in. Given that the earth is constantly moving around the sun, the sun is moving about our local cluster, our local cluster is moving about our super-cluster and the galaxy in general is supposed to be drifting..well I find it very unlikely we would ever see such an event re-enacted.

Either way I appreciate anyone who gives these sorts of issues enough thought to form a hypothesis. Even if certain parts are off or just completely wrong the point is that its a learning experience and you have submitted it not to proclaim its truth but receive opinion and review so that you might refine or abandon the hypothesis in favor of something better and ultimately working towards the truth of the issue.

DO NOT USE SCIENCE TO JUSTIFY UNSCIENTIFIC HYPOTHESES

If you try to use science in a hypothesis, your assertions must be scientifically plausible.

The existence of ghosts has never been scientifically shown. It implies a distinction between "mind/spirit" and "body" which requires something non-physical.

Science requires determinism, i.e. all actions are caused by previous physical actions. Nothing outside of the physical world can influence the physical world, so a mind/spirit cannot interact with the physical world. Therefore, ghosts do not exist as when someone dies, their physical body is destroyed and that's it.

I really hate when people use abstract scientific theories involving the words "quantum" and "string" to justify absurd (or at least never demonstrated scientifically) conclusions. The "science" you base it on is one of many thousands of theoretical interpretations.

The theories you mention are a) twisted versions of mathematically not observationally based and are likely never to happen in the real world and b) Sci-fi. "Oh no, the overlapping strings in the tenth dimension are breaching the hull, captain!"

Einstien had a theory that Ghosts and Aliens were strung together, I don't know it's exact details but it was something to do with it all coming from the same 'ripples' or something, weird.
