Forums - Microsoft - Halo film "dead", film footage shown was promotional for Halo 3 + Vid

I liked it, a lot of potential.

The movie was killed a while ago soon after Peter Jackson left, spiraling costs etc, but with the recent success of the game it could all turn around

thats what peter jackson said, it would come crawling back to his feet once halo 3 was released

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Because the series wasn't successful before Halo 3?

These guys need to learn that success in the games industry and success in the film industry are worlds apart. If every Halo fan saw a $100 mil-plus movie three times, it would still be a failure. You need to broaden the audience considerably, or hold your budget to a reasonable level.

But a reasonable budget is not a possibility when Peter Jackson is involved in any capacity. This is the guy who needs over $100 million to adapt the The Lovely Bones, of all properties.

Chris Kohler is reporting that the Gears of War movie is in trouble for the same reason - these guys think they're making Star Wars orHarry Potter instead of a movie with - let's face it - a small fanbase. Until they face up to reality, video game adaptations are never going to leave the Uwe Boll ghetto.

I honestly hope this film is never made.

Even a Gears of War film would be more appealing.

Not bad at all...

31 million PS3's by end of this year
