so the only reason MS sells so much stuff is the gamerpoints system?

Not for movie or game purchases, but for their avatar clothes and what not most definitely. Home would flourish if it was built into becoming something similar to Gaia Online. Have a virtual currancy which you can earn through doing tasks within the game or simply flat out purchase. Also they need to have a significantly larger selection of things to buy so people have the motivation to do either.

If Sony can do this, Home could really become the selling point for PS3s that Sony may hope it can become.

playstation HOME is a complete failure.

all those resources could have been allocated to making psn way better.

instead PSN is known as the gimped version of XBOX LIVE

and HOME is known as a gimped version of second life because it is boring.

LOOK AT ALL THE HYPE HOME GOT BEFORE IT WAS RELEASED

I think you guys are missing the point... SONY is concerned about the lack of interest. They were trying to make a Second Life for gamers, and the gamers don't care... It doesn't matter if I think it's lame, or if you think it's a success because the million users that DO use it spent a dollar each, Sony has brought up now the low number of actual console owners that bothered to download Home, and now how few return visitors they have. Sony is concerned about why it's not catching on.

That thing you didn't understand in the OP...whether Sony was boasting or not....

they were boasting. You are spinning this whole thing and you don't even realize it. Sacrilige!

Psst: That wasn't me confused in the OP...  That was the writer of the article I quoted taking a potshot at Sony, asking why they were releasing negative info about their own service (whether or not they were going to try to "spin it" into "1-in-4 people come to Home TWICE!!"

I shoudl have expected that confusion... I've been a victim of it in other threads.  My own posts start after the link to the article.  My bad.

lol you really need to format quoted things in quotes man.

Its just too boring, but that can be fixed

Go play the buzz quiz.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

^ is it any good?
I love the EA racing, won 15/15

Meh home is like Wi Sports some people will love it, many others won't care. I'm in the second group for both :D

I don't think they expect 100% of all PS3 owners to get on.
It's common sense that this isn't for everybody.
Not all gamers are into this. It doesn't take a 60% rate of gamers that go on Home
to make it successful, that would be BEYOND successful.

25% of 22 million users. Yeaaaaah, your soooo right, it issssss a failure. Can you imagine a social networking site with more than 5 mil users. How lame, ehh?

Most have far, far, far more...  Twitter, the new kid on the block, had 14mil users in the US alone by March of '08 (Nielson Online).  Worse, there's no confirmation yet, but most are reporting that the actual figures are 25% of the total PSN accounts (just over 5 mil) have visited home, and only 80% of them have come back a second time.

-25% of 22mil accounts have visited home=  5.5mil

-80% have come back a second time= 4.4mil

So, fewer than 1 in 4 users home users visit more than once, and they are only a fraction of the number of folks that COULD access it.  Home is failing to catch on, and as evidenced here and elsewhere, it's because the majority of PS3 owners think it's lame.
