you forgot to say no homo =P

I'm not really that interested in Home or any other social networks, but 1 out of 4 is a pretty good reach. I mean you have free MMOs out there accessible to anyone with a PC that can't even get 1 million users. Still I doubt there's really a quarter PS3 users using Home, that would mean more than 5 millions users! In any case, I think Sony didn't lose money on this project and it's only getting better from now on.

No, no... Only about a quarter (slightly better) of PS3 users downloaded home... Around 6mil. Who knows how many of them booted it up (I cant' find the thread; I think it was only over 4mil), but only a quarter of the folks that have booted it up have ever used it a second time.
That's where I was saying that around 1mil PS3 owners have used home twice or more, and have spent slightly over $1 each. If Home costs Sony nothign to upkeep, that's GANGBUSTERS for them... Since it DOES cost them something (don't know how much) it seems rather poor that not 1/23rd of PS3 users can be bothered.

I read somewhere else return rate was 60% ...like during the Presser of E3... from jackie trenton
Fail thread?
"(12:06:11 PM): Now he's talking about PlayStation Home. There have been more than 6.5 million users, and 85% have "returned", which must mean that they're used it more than once. "

"Sony's Peter Edwards has revealed that over seven million people are signed up to PlayStation Home, but this is contrasted by a return rate of 25 - 30%, meaning that most people have just signed in, checked it out, realized it was awful, then left. Edwards is quick to point out that the figures aren't definitive, but it's quite telling about how most PSN members are using the "service.""

Also: in the article that starts this thread, that's a Peter Edwards quote about the 1 in 4 return. Don't know what the purpose of the drop off in numbers between E3 and the more recent Developer Conference quote.
A less bash-happy source:
"Update: GamesIndustry.biz has clarified that the 25 - 30 per cent figure cited by Edward refers to the number of PSN account holders who have visited Home more than once."

That being out of 7mil PSN accounts, many on the same console. No numbers for how many of that 7mil have DLed home (I believe THAT is where the 80% comes from, or Edwards statement that "only 80% of PSN users are 18-35 year old males"). So, less than a 3rd (probably far less if there are many married adults that have an account for each) of PS3 owners take advantage of the free online (one of the systems major selling points) and less than a third of those return.
Again, this could be tied to the fact that PSP users ALSO have PSN accounts, and cannot access Home, as far as I know.

OHHH!!!!!!
25-30 percent of PSN ACCOUNTS! out of the 25 million accounts 7 million downloaded it. Out of that 7 million 85% returned. that 85% = 25-30% of the Psn accounts

I think you've got it. I was looking around to confirm things, since a lot of these sites are posting updates and clarifications... I think it's 20mil PSN accounts, 6.5-7mil have DLed home, and then maybe it's 85% of them have returned, so that is ACTUALLY far more positive than what Destructoid, Tom Chick, and a number of others are saying... Sure, it's only a third or less of the total accounts, but most come back.
If not, then it's only 25-30% of that 6.5mil, which seems really, really bad (especially taking into account the multiple accoutns per console thing).

Heh... I was looking for further clarification in other articles, and noticed that this thread is the #7 hit on Google, after Destructoid and a handful of other news sites.
