Forums - General - Muse: United States of Eurasia... your thoughts?

So Muse have finally finished revealing United States of Eurasia; the first new song to be revealed of their upcoming album 'The Resistance'

Here it is...: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfiwrabNVfQ

So, what do you think? Im sure there are plenty of muse fans out there...

personally i think it is fantastic! It is ambitious.. yet still feels like Muse (and a bit like Queen!) I love it though, and im definately looking forward to the rest of the album more after hearing it

wow that is quite Queen like. I can see it growing on me a lot, but it didn't blow me away at first.

3:00 - 3:22 sounds like it is straight out of Slumdog Millionaire. (in a good way)

Well it sounded a lot like Queen...thus I didn't like it.

Wow! Just finished my first listen and it was great! I definately get the Queen vibe from it (which is a very good thing)! Can't wait for the album.

Signature goes here!

i like Queen, i did not like that song.

Listening.

Until it became all Queen-y I heard a lot of similarities to past songs... especially one I can't remember the title of me.

I love the kinda Persian/Arabian little thing they had.

Lyrics are a bit preachy/cliche.

Africa, Asia, and Europe also had plenty of conflict. Hannibal invading Italy. All the conquest and invasions done to Africa by Europeans and Arabs. Almohads occupying Spain. Egypt's always been a big player in the Mediterenian.

It was OK.

It sounds like Muse, but this one is slower so it sounds more like Queen.

Holy crap, nevermind that. I just got to the rock opera part.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Great band but they were cooler when nobody knew who they were early on. My fav. album is Absolution.

This single reminds me of that album.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

The problem is every band is comparable to another one. Sure there are similarities to Queen but i think Wolfmother is like Led Zeppelin.
