God of War 3 -> Rip their head off.

Gears of War 2 -> Cut them into pieces.

Since Gears is probably > God of War, its Sony who needs a better answer.

lol, well, GeoW and GoW are two completely different genres.

As far as that goes, going by the ideology of this thread(which I don't prescribe to), Sony has absolutely no answer for Gears of War unless you call it Uncharted, and if you did...then yes, judging by sales and reviews, Sony needs a much better answer than that. Same could be said for Killzone 2 and Halo 3 though.

I disagree. Lower sales most likely mean that there's simply less people want a TPS on the PS3. Other reasons may include a game's poor quality, bad marketing, or stiff inner competition (e.g. MAG released near MW2). I don't think Uncharted suffered from poor quality, bad marketing, or stiff inner competition (at a time when the PS3 had a very small portfolio of titles).

Well, I disagree with the thread as a whole, but I certainly think that the game didn't suffer poor quality.

However, this thread is about having "answers" for certain games.

That means you compare them.

Uncharted certainly had worse quality, and marketing than Gears of War(Uncharted had some flaws, you have to admit), and assuming Gears was the competition we speak of, it was and is certainly stiff...to say the least.

While the game was great, it is no competition for Gears of War, and certainly not a valid answer in the sense that the TC is speaking.

I don't think the platform companies should really try to make a game to match another game, but simply satisfy a genre. I don't think Uncharted, from what I know and read from (I haven't played the game yet =/) was meant as an answer to GeoW. In terms of gameplay (Platforming, and some light stealth mechanics), aesthetics, story, and dialogue, the two are very different. Uncharted only serves to satisfy TPS fans on a PS3 who want... TPSs.

Yeah, I totally agree. That's what I said in my first post, and everyone after it, lol.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I wasn't disagreeing with you either XD I was totally agreeing with you and only adding to what you said.

Yeah I would love a game like God of War on the 360.  Its one of my favorite franchises ever!

Also they pretty much have an answers to most of Sony's big IPs such as:

Crackdown is to inFamous

Thanks to this thread I learned that:

1) Crackdown is Microsoft's "answer to" inFamous, even though Crackdown came out over two years earlier.

2) inFamous is a "big IP" even though it sold more like a typical PS3 game.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

Ninja Gaiden series is better than GOW, so it's not a major loss. But GOW is a cool game, so another great Hacker on 360 wouldn't go a miss. To be honest though I'm more waiting to see what the NG creator comes up with next now he left Tecmo for his own company.

Ninja Gaiden series?

Ofcourse inFamous is a big IP, it will eventually sell a whole million.

Since its no longer exclusive Sony fans refuse to dignify it. I prefer it over GoW because its less mindless button mashing.

Lets try this: Microsoft should come up with more original titles and leave Sony and GoW do their own thing.

Do you want a ripoff of an already existing franchise or a new franchise that could start a great new IP?
