MW2 must be having an effect on every FPS that isn't Halo. Bioshock 2 got delayed too.

Halo is being released in Septemeber.

I'm thinking its to avoid MW2 and to get in the sales before people go with CoD and decide to hold off ODST for a while or permanently.

MW2 is having an effect on even the mighty Halo.

So hard to call there...  People were calling for KZ2 to destroy Halo Wars, with only the word "Halo" in the title selling any copies of the title in the first place...  A marginally related spin off to the Great Cthulhu of video games has pretty much run neck and neck with the competitors biggest offering thus far, even chewing in to lead KZ2 had at launch.  That said, Halo Wars succeeded as much on its own merits as a fantastic console RTS, and Halo: ODST will have to do the same.  Tough call against something as proven as CoD, whereas KZ2 had a far less impressive pedigree going into that fight.

Halo 3 ODST will absolutely eat the 360 version of MW2 alive. I will buy 10 PS3's if MW2 360 version is even close to Halo 3 ODST's opening sales.

MW2 will sell well on PS3 and PC because there is little else as big as Halo on those systems. But just the sheer number of online Halo 3 players ( 3 million ) will be purchasing ODST in the first week for all the extra content.

I can't believe you guys think ODST is scared of MW2 LOL.

Shouldn't all those hardcore Halo fans already have that content?  I got some of it, and then the other maps came with Halo Wars...

Still, I'm a day 1 for ODST, too...

Halo: ODST, even as a side story, is likely to stomp on MW2...  But it just doesn't make sense that it SHOULD, since it's NOT "the main Halo franchise," and CoD is HUGE...  But it probably will.

Certainly alot could have got Halo Wars, so maybe. Then don't forget the 5+ mill who signed up to the Halo story evolution. Trying to figure out where Halo 3 was gonna go before it was released. Surely all these Halo Buffs will buy ODST for the story, if they love the story that much!

Price cut will save Sony. And a MAG delay isn't really a bad idea. It's one of those games that definitely would get lost in the shuffle. If they can give it the right time to show it off to people, they have a much better shot of it really shining, or it could be the next Dead Space/Mirror's Edge.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Who said ODST is scared of MW2?

I'm saying MW2 is now so big and with the huge lineup to release ODST in Nov would impact it's sales.
Even if that happened ODST would outsell MW2 on first day but MS are being smart by releasing it as the start of the Autumn/christmas gaming bonanza to get the absolute most out of the sales.

There's a very familiar pattern...

Spring: Sony fanboys brag about all the PS3 exclusives coming out this holiday season, engage in list warz, call it the "year of the PS3"

Summer: Half the games are delayed until the next year

Fall/Winter: The big PS3 exclusives barely make the NPD top 10 in their first month, and then disappear altogether

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

It shouldn't release next to COD, just like R2 shouldn't have. If the can't get MAG at least 2 months out before COD then don't even bother.

@sinha...well, the games are there and will be there, this year still has Uncharted 2, R&C CT and Demon's Souls as exclusives for me, and I can also enjoy every multiplat so what's not to love? This year already gave us great content in Infamous, KZ2 and MLB 09, soon Fat Princess and WipEout DLC, plus Trine should be great additions from the PS Store. I'll take that any year over a lame Halo add-on, lame GTA add-ons and more shooting from a L4D2. Only Forza 3 looks enticing, but I'll be busy playing GT PSP and sooner after that I get glorious GT5.

Yeh... MW2 would destry it. If i had to choose between an astablised franchise and an experiment, i would go for an astablied franchise....

So... Uncharted 2.  Yeah, that's a pretty packed schedule of PS3 exclusives Sony have going for them, this is truly the Year of the PS3.

Basically in the span of a few months the PS3 went from having the best 2009 exclusives to the worst.

You and other Sony fanboys on this site will be the only ones who "take that any year over a lame Halo add-on"... Halo ODST will sell over 3x as much as those games combined.  It will be closer to 6-7x when you add in sales from Forza 3, Left4Dead 2, and Splinter Cell Conviction.

If LBP only sold one copy, and I was the one who bought it, would it still not be considered one of the best games from 2008, and of this gen? It shouldn't matter if every game doesn't do Wii Fit numbers. There are so many great games may have slow starts but crack a million anyway, maybe even 2 (look at Uncharted. It was at 2M BEFORE bundling)
