After waiting through many rumors about PS3 price cuts, I finally decided to quit waiting and was going to break down and buy a PS3.  I planned to get the Playstation card to get the $300 cash back, since I normally charge expenses to credit cards for benefits (although I don't recommend it to anyone if they can't pay the full balance each month...)

Anyway, when I applied for the card, it said I could use a temporary code at either sonystyle.com or sonyrewards.com.  Sonyrewards.com had the two basic PS3 boxes and sonystyle.com had a free controller with either box.  I was going to make the purchase on Wednesday (July 15) and they had gotten rid of the free controller promo, so I decided to wait a few days to see what new promotion or bundle they might offer.  I went back to check both sites today, and sonyrewards.com no longer has the 80 GB even listed on their website, just the Drake's fortune pack.  Is this more proof that something is coming out soon?

According to the card terms, I have 45 days to make my first purchase of a PS3 (which I looked at the terms and it also said the initial purchase must be $299, not $399).  So now, it looks like I'll wait a little bit longer but I'll still make a purchase before the end of August so I can take advantage of the $300 cash back deal.

How does $300 cash back work on a $299 purchase? They pay you a dollar to own a PS3? No wonder they're losing money.
