There are some things that seem similar to the crash of 1983. Now I doubt it will happen, but what would lead us to it? One of the the reasons it happened in 1983 was a large number of consoles in the market. I don't see that now, as three established companies are firmly in place right now. If Apple jumps in however, that may be one too many. Another reason for the crash was a large number of extremely low quality games. We are getting knocked over the head with more crap titles than I can remember in a long time. The thing that we were not involved in at the time, was as bad of a recession as we are in now. Also, production costs are so high on games these days, that a lot of companies can't keep up. Again, I don't see it happening, with better established companies at the helm now than in the past. However, those who never learn from the past are doomed to repeat it.
