your title made me think this was a pro Mac thread, but the numbers said the oposite, which is why I was confused.

The best offensive strategy is surprise... surprise!

@illegalpalladin: ohm nom nom is the sound Jobs makes when he eats his daily dollar salad T_T

Anyways this whole thing makes me sad because I do like OSX and Apple computers and I hate how the Mac Pro which used to be the most cost-efficient computer in their whole line (very competitive with the Dells and HPs with similar configurations) has become burdened with the dreaded Apple tax.

Why do I get the feeling that the people who buy Apple notebooks are vastly uninformed.

don't worry people who buy windows pc after vista are too.

Since when do Macs have octo-core processors?

I don't see how they can justify those prices since they don't include teh cell.

I'm pretty sure every CPU on there would smash the Cell, and then laugh at it.

this looks like it was done on paint

These are dual quad-core CPU computers. Real server-grade processors too, intel charges 750$-2700$ (depending on speed) for a couple of Xeons. The motherboards for those setups are quite expensive to boot.

Sounds beefy.

No shit. Hilariously enough, Apple has always had a very weird GPU offering for these, it was either 2004's mid-line nvidia/ati or 2000$ pro GPU. Anyways they used to be very competitive price wise up to the point some people bought them to wipe the HD and install Windows on these.

Until 2009 of course, when Apple decided they should be earning an additional 1000$-1500$ per unit sold on top of what they were earning on the Mac Pro from 2006 to 2008.
