Forums - Sony - Final Fantasy X International

While reading some FAQs on Final Fantasy X, I came across mentions of quests available only in the International version of the game, mainly something about the dark aeons.

I really loved Final Fantasy X and I know I'm going to replay it someday, I was wondering if it was worth trying to get myself a copy of the PAL version for that replay. Is the dark aeons quest a long one? How challenging is it? Are PS2s region coded? Will a PAL game play on my NA PS2 (or PS3)? Who shot Mr. Burns?

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

Okay that takes care of one question... what about the others?

I would play this game right now if my PS3 had BC... sigh...

The dark aeons quest is the longest, most dificult quest of the game. They all are high powered bosses with lots of HP, beginning at 800K for Dark Valefor, and ending in 8M+ for Dark Anima, and averaging 200+ stats for each of them, except the final Dark Aeons, who have 255 stats in every characteristic.

After defeating the Dark Aeons you unlock the hardest fight in the game, Penance. A tough M********* Piece of S*** who has 10M on his body and two arms that have 500K each, and they hit you for 30K damage each, except the ultimate attack of Penance, which deals about 70K. On top of that, they all have 255 stats, meaning they pretty much maim your team. I have managed to defeat them without using the Zanmato strategy, which what almost everyone uses, but it took me 3 tries, and two hours of fighting.

PS2 games are region locked, but you can mod your ps2 to play them.

Current PC Build

CPU - i7 8700K 3.7 GHz (4.7 GHz turbo) 6 cores OC'd to 5.2 GHz with Watercooling (Hydro Series H110i) | MB - Gigabyte Z370 HD3P ATX | Gigabyte GTX 1080ti Gaming OC BLACK 11G (1657 MHz Boost Core / 11010 MHz Memory) | RAM - Corsair DIMM 32GB DDR4, 2400 MHz | PSU - Corsair CX650M (80+ Bronze) 650W | Audio - Asus Essence STX II 7.1 | Monitor - Samsung U28E590D 4K UHD, Freesync, 1 ms, 60 Hz, 28"

It's not worth it unless you want to do some serious grinding and farming.

Great thanks for the info! I normally wouldn't try to mod one of my consoles but since I've got a PS3 to play my PS2 games, my PS2 is useless so I could take the chance.

I'm not surprised anymore to see you in this thread... you really are an Rpg walkthrough catalogue...

And yes it is fun to do, at least i thought it was and i still haven't finished them all.

@TruckOSaurus

You're Welcome. I only modded my PS2 after i got my BC Ps3 too, I was missing out on many NA only RPG's, and some RPG which were really rare in PAL regions.

@weaverworld

Loool, nahh, I just remember the RPG's I like the most, or the ones i've given more play time. This helped me a lot when a friend of mine got stuck in the puzzle of the Ice Rod temple, I managed to do it for him in about 5 minutes, but when I played through the game in my first playthrough, I was stuck there for almost 2 hours.
That is the most insane Ice Sliding Platform puzzle i've ever seen in a game xD Then again, Alundra had some of the most insane puzzles ever :P
