Woohoo...

Holland - Brasil

You can complain all you want about the boredom during the Dutch matches but for the first time  EVER the Dutch are playing for result and not to please the millions of eyes watching. We've had this match in 94 and 98 and they are still considered Final-worthy matches. They were by far the most enjoyable matches at those tournaments. (yes overdoing it)

Should be a very interesting match because the winner should be able to proceed to the finals. And for the very first time this tournament both defenses will be tested severely.

I personally don't care if the game becomes a bore... As long as we get to win that cup in the end. Finally. Justice

Germany  smashed one of the best teams in the tournament by a 3 goal margin. England are no push over. To beat England by 3 clear goals is no easy task. Germany should make it to the World Cup Final.

Repeat of 2002 World Cup final: Brazil versus Germany?

The Quarter Final match up against Argentina looms as Germany's hardest task on the road to reaching the Final.

one of the best teams in the tournament? And when exactly did they portray that?

Germany looked impressive in their 4-1 win against England. The same style needs to be used against Argentina. Score goals on the counter attack. Argentina will control possession but hopefully Germany holds them out.

England one of the best teams  on paper but  they could not put it on display at the World Cup. In qualifying for the World Cup tournament England ripped their opponents apart and remained unbeaten.

England never displayed they were one of the best teams of the tournament. Potentially they were a top 4 team. They failed to live up to their potential. The US draw was disappointing. The Algerian draw was even more disappointing. The humiliation to Germany was a nightmare.

The draw was favorable for England providing they won their group but they failed to even do that.

Italy and France were disappointing but they were not the same teams of 2006, shadows of their former selves. England were the most disappointing team of the tournament. England were tipped to be a top 4 fancy for the World Cup behind: Brazil, Argentina and Spain but they bombed out big time. 1 win, 2 draws and a 1 huge loss.

I can't say I'm that confident, but the reasons do seem good except possibly for the first one...

Septic Blatter apologises for the mistakes at the World Cup. But replays and technology will not be used to correct errors made by poor officials.

Winning and losing of a football match is determined by corrupt officials who may want a particularly team to win. It only takes one or two bad decisions to determine whether your team wins or loses a match. It does not matter if your team plays good or bad. The referee decides the contests.

I do not believe that Septics apology will be accepted. When Septic retires and a younger President takes over. Sooner or later technology and replays will be brought into football. The referees need to be held accountable.

if that's how you view refs/officials and football itself you are better off not watching it

Australia had two bad decisions against them this World Cup. Two sending offs which deserved a yellow card at best. Cahill and Kewell sent off in back to back matches. The referees decisions were absolute crap.

Most teams in the tournament have suffered bad decisions against them especially the minnow teams. England were one the most high profiled team to have a bad decision against them which dramatically altered the outcome of the match.

The referees are poor quality and they must be held accountable for their mistakes. They should never referee an international match again and fined.

Germans were favoured against Australia and England in diabolical referee decisions: a sending off and a clear goal disallowed. Argentina have also had favourable treatment from referees. Offside Tevez goal scored against Mexico: 4 yards offside when the ball was played.

Argentina versus Germany: Battle of the Cheats. Which one of the cheats will the referee favour the most?

Kewell deserved to get sent off, he stopped a goal with his arm. I agree that Cahill shouldn't of got sent off though.

I gree, too many mistakes and it's laughable, no one can ever give valid reason why technology isn't used , Jose Blatter is crap, he won't change it but he will retire eventually.... or die.
