Owen did better for Newcastle last season, then Tevez did for United last season, so youre point is moot, Owen hasnt been crap at Newcastle, he's had injury and fitness problems that he has now recovered from, pretty simple really, he will also have better support play with United than he had at Newcastle, and we know he can play well with Rooney (see England) and with good support (see Liverpool and he did alright with Madrid too) so in that sense, he's not so much a gamble as a bargain imo.
