That was a truly terrible decision. Great result for England.

True, but if England need a tie between these 2 teams to advance...something is wrong.

England didn't neccessarily need a draw from them. Had the USA won they could have gone through in first place on goal difference and had Slovenia won they could have gone through by beating them (in both cases assuming Algeria lose both their games).

I'm sure they won't need a draw here. It takes a while for these big teams to warm up to world cup level but once they are there...
I still hope Slovenia goes through myself, but if they play like they did today in the second half...Rooney and a bunch of pylons will knock them out of world cup.
Even with a draw (it should be a win if wasn't for the shitty referee) the USA are pratically classified. No way Slovenia will win over England and Algeria will already be eliminated after today.

Yeah the worst part of this is that it completely eliminates the possibility of finishing top in the group. Given the USA's ability to score there was a good chance that they could get a better goal differential and edge out England.
I still really hope the referee is dealt with after this match though. Can anyone explain why that one USA player got a yellow card other than the ref sucking? His hand was no where near the ball!

All of this happened because the obligation of having three african referees in the World Cup, others from Central America or Oceania and so on. Sometimes the 'best of the worst' isn't just enough...
Today's referee was from Mali. Yes, really.
Bad referees today.
In the game Germany against Serbia the referee was showing cards 9 times, most of the time for ridiculous reasons.
And USA would have won today if it hadn't been for the referee. Their third goal was valid.
That might be so, but he should have given an American a red card in the first minute for an 'elbow'... So tell me again how America would have won that game?

In Serbia - Germany game there was a few iffy yellow cards, but 99% of the calls were right. Germany tends to play very physical and it was a nice change of pace to see someone call the little bumps, nudges and kicks to the shin for both sides...
The game was very clean for a reason.
Second game ref had some bad calls for sure.
