Is it me or does Rooney never really try unless the ball is at his feet?!

He does but gets easily frustrated so stops then gets even more pissed off. When Gerrard has the ball it seems like he wakes up and starts to move, they work well together. Saw a few passages of interlinking play between them, would be a crime if he gets dumped out on the left wing in the World Cup.

I also think he really flares up against strong opposition since it's gives him a goal to work towards too, while against countries such as Japan I think he wants the team to works for him instead of the other way round.

Gerrad and Joe Cole impressed today, and maybe Aaron Lennon the rest were average or way below to be wearing the england shirt.

"Life is but a gentle death. Fate is but a sickness that results in extinction and in the midst of all the uncertainty, lies resolve."

Yeah agreed.

Here is my final choice to face the USA on 12th June.

Hart (GK)

A.Cole (LB)
Ferdinand (CB)
Terry (CB)
G.Johnson (RB)

Milner (LM)
Gerrard (CM)
Lampard (CM)
Lennon (RM)

Crouch (FW)
Rooney (FW)

Difficult to leave Cole out but tbh Milner has played better this season and well enough to warrant a start. Bit tricky to have both Lampard and Gerrard but little alternative as there would be massive backlash from the nation especially if Gerrard was dropped. Crouch scores more internationally than John Terry does off the pitch so for me has a place. His goal scoring record speaks for itself. King isn't reliable enough internationally and his knee could come back to haunt him. Joe Hart has been for me the best English keeper this year and seems quite consistant.

Won against Northrn Ireland, now Israel.

Lampard and Gerrard in centre mid together again? Really? It doesn't work, it never worked. Capello better be pretty confident of Barry's fitness.

How is it that England never know what their best team is before a tournament? That doesn't seem to happen in other countries

And lookit: Looks like after his great run of form for United this season OG has continued it at international level! Boom Boom!

I bet loads of people have said that already but I haven't seen it yet

Walcott out. That's a surprise. I wouldn't have taken SWP ahead of him but there you go. Other than that nothing too surprising

Walcott doesnt suprise me, he's been pretty poor for England in recent games.

MANCHESTED UNITED

Yeah he hasn't been great but I'd still take him ahead of SWP as your impact sub. Upson instead of Dawson is wrong too, I think.

And poor Darren Bent, having Heskey go ahead of him. Third for the golden boot this season, second highest scoring englishman in the league, all while playing for a mid-table club. What more does he have to do? If he scored that many playing for a top four club and didn't get to go there'd be riots in the streets.
