Forums - Nintendo - scribblenauts has rickroll

The point of the game is to be creative in how you solve the objectives... that's like going through Killzone 2 and knifing everyone... or some other way to make a game seem broken...

Again, that does nothing to change either of the main points I have made in this thread.

Why is cutting down a tree so different from burning it down? Is it because you're doing it in a video game that gives it a special touch? You're still doing the same thing, (getting the tree down) but you're just slightly changing the way you do it.

After finding 5 ways to chop down a tree, I think it would get pretty boring.

But hey, maybe we just perceive this game differently. However, I'm sure there are at least some people who see the game the same way I do, that's why I think it won't be the "Game of the century" or even the "Game of the year" when reveiwers actually get to sit down with the final product.

I still think its an excellent idea, just executed improperly. If they had kept the numbers lower, and increased the dev time with each object, I'm still lead to believe it would be a MUCH better game, with MUCH more replay value. I mean, you can summon "Rickroll", and yet there is no music thus completely defeating the point of summoning it. It's just Rick Astley, why not just make it Rick Astley then? Pretty lame.

the point of the game is to use your imagination to solve the puzzles. im sure there are more than 5 ways to cut down a tree in the game. you have to use imagination. something you apperently lack.

At the end of the day it's a puzzle game and the quality of the puzzles will determine whether or not it's a good game. The fact that you can literally try to solve the puzzles in thousands of different ways is what distinguishes it from other puzzle games. People that don't like solving puzzles or who don't like to use their imagination probably won't enjoy it. If all the puzzles suck very few people will enjoy it.

People who buy it to fight random dinosaurs will most probably grow bored after 10 minutes.

I definitely agree with this, which is why I don't think it's going to change the face of video games or be the game of the century.

But I have yet to see someone argue my point that this game would be better if the scale wasn't so large.

So you're basically saying that since the game will allow you to summon a baseball bat or a cricket bat thing that will basically be used in the same manner, it won't be as good as it would have been had the designers spent all their time on only the baseball bat?

it wouldnt be though. if it was filled with limitations and very little depth, that defeats the whole purpose of the game. it would be that good.

That's a pretty poor example and you know it. Would I rather see a T-rex bite someone in half than just flail its body in your general direction? Absolutely. Would I rather see God use some sort of powers that he no doubt has, rather than just flail his arms in your general direction? Absolutely. Would I rather see the Giant Crab cut stuff in half rather than just flail its arms in your general direction? Hell yes. Would I rather have Einstien use his infinite knowledge to use objects to figure out a way to defeat and enemy or solve a puzzle, instead of just forcing a shotgun into his arms? Yes. I could go on forever but I'm sure you see the point.

I've also noticed that the time machine sends you to the same place/point in time every time you use it. Also, the roflcopter is just a helicopter, and once again, Rickroll isn't a rickroll, it's just Rick Astley. All of these things could be vastly improved with a smaller object list and more dev time.

^ I think that only the PS3 is powerful enough to graphically depict a true representation of god's powers.

Hopefully scribblenauts 2 will be released on the PS3 with a 50 million dollar budget so that every object in the game will have it's own animations and distinct features.

Well I guess we can call that effectively giving up.

@AE86

the game is for KIDS. its not going to depict god exploding guys from the inside out, or crabs cutting people in half, or a t-rex eating someone alive. its not going to show zombies ripping guys organs out, or knights fighting to the bloody death. its a kids game on the ds, not a super hardcore game on the PS3.
