"General UI updates
- Added ability to customize the Wii Main Menu. You can now select wallpaper, music, animations, size and shape of channels and more. Content can be added by SD Card or downloaded from the Wii Shop Channel.
- Added support for streaming music tracks off of SD Card that you can listen too while using any of the Wii channels.
- Added new Downloaded Content channel that allows you to organize all your downloaded Virtual Console, Virtual Arcade and WiiWare games, instead of each game having its own channel.
- Added detailed Firmware/Software Update History from Wii settings menu.
- Address Book pages increased from 20 to 50.
- Added ability to message multiple friends in the address book at once.
- Added ability to send and read received messages via the Wii Remote Home button at any time, even during gameplay.

- Added support to apply your Club Nintendo username to your console’s 16 digit Wii number. Now you can just exchange your Club Nintendo username with friends and easily add them without having to type in their 16 digit console’s Wii number. Future games will support this functionality as well by utilizing the console’s Wii number and not a separate game friend code.

Nintendo Community Profile (NCP)
- Added new Nintendo Community Profile (NCP) that is linked to your enhanced Club Nintendo account.
- NCP is created when first connecting console to the Internet. Existing Internet enabled console owners NCP will also automatically be created and updated with existing game stats.
- Can view and share Gameplay Stats, Achievements, Friends, Screen shots and more from new the NCP Channel and also the Club Nintendo website.
- Added functionality to download new Game-Specific Achievements for NCP supported games.
- Future games will fully support NCP.
Communication Enhancements
- Added support for most Bluetooth and USB compatible headsets and microphones.
- Parental Controls updated with options for Enabling or Disabling voice chat communication functionality.
- Parental Controls updated with additional options for communication functionality.
- Added ability to chat via Nintendo Instant Messaging (NIM) with friends in your address book.
- Added ability to see the status of your friends in your address book. Now you can see what games they are playing in addition to other status. You can choose to turn this functionality off if you don’t wish to allow your friends to see you online.

- Added support for USB Flash Drives
- Added support for merging of game save data files with friends.
Channel Updates
Wii Shop Channel
- Popular game stats enhanced. Now, you can see what is “Popular this week”, “Popular this month” and ”All-Time Best Sellers”.
- Added ability to zoom in on screenshots and box art.
- Added ability to watch videos of games without having to leave the Shop Channel and enter the Internet Channel.
- Credit Card information securely saved to your profile so you no longer have to enter the information again to purchase Nintendo Points. This feature can be enabled or disabled in Parental Controls.
- Added link to Internet Channel to download demos of Virtual Console, Virtual Arcade and WiiWare demos.
Nintendo Channel
- Once you’ve confirmed your date of birth once, you will no longer be prompted to enter your date of birth when viewing a mature game title.
- Added ability to download Wii Game Demos. You can now try out Virtual Console, Virtual Arcade and WiiWare titles before you purchase them.

Mii Channel
- Added support for Downloadable Content
- Added new Mii Store where you can download user-created apparel and accessories

- Added ability to create Custom apparel by using images loaded from an SD card

Internet Channel

WiiSpeak Channel

Photo Channel
- Photo Channel renamed to Media Channel.
- Added ability to listen to AAC music tracks in new media player.
- Added ability to delete images directly from the Media Channel without having to search for them on the Message Board.
- Added ability to choose order in which music tracks are played during a slideshow.
- Added ability to arrange order of pictures to be viewed in a Slideshow.
- Added ability to customize the image gallery. Now supports user-created folders to manage images.
